Very innnnnnnnteresting! This report seems to indicate that the more men and women become economically and socially equal the more traditional their personalities become. Stella, comment here?

Why is it counterintuitive that in cultures where people near the bottom of Maslow's heierarchy (fewer opportunities for self-actualization and cocktail parties) or in traditional roles (more structured and defined) have less variance in personalities than cultures where more role variety and freedom is accepted?

I also wonder how they defined and measured personality.

On the other hand, people married for 30 years look alike. And if they have a dog...

My husband is currently a professor. I used to be a professor. Having pretty much the same job would seem to be about as equal as you can get, and I am not traditional, by any stretch of the imagination.

Cory -- vegetarian, bisexual, polyamorous, semi-pagan sadomasochist who's only registered Democratic because there aren't any viable political parties that are farther to the left (and that's just scratching the surface)

But we like you anyway. That's the great thing about liberals -- we believe in being nice. :)

I happen to believe that a conservative, retired military, Libertarian-type Republican should always conduct himself as a gentleman and be kind and considerate to all he meets . . . until some slimeball shows up who definitely needs shooting! Fortunately, even the most objectionable of Lit members never approaches that point. So . . . all I shoot is either paper or dinner.
