Hmmmm.... that is tough. Having a decent work environment is very important considering working in healthcare can be stressful enough as is. I don't need shitty co-workers adding to my stress. I took a job at a lower paying hospital to work with people who I knew I could count on and would have my back when I needed it. It's totally worth it to me.

  • Exxon Mobil Corp. reported second-quarter earnings of $11.68 billion Thursday, the biggest profit from operations ever by any U.S. corporation

  • The world's largest publicly traded oil company said net income for the April-June period came to $2.22 a share, up from $10.26 billion, or $1.83 a share, a year ago.

    Revenue rose 40 percent to $138.1 billion from $98.4 billion in the year-earlier quarter.

  • Setting U.S. profit records has become commonplace for Irving-based Exxon Mobil. The $11.68 billion topped its own U.S. record of $11.66 billion, posted in the fourth quarter of last year. Right behind that was the $10.9 billion it reported to start 2008.

    In fact, if one-time gains like bankruptcy settlements and spinoffs are stripped away from other companies, Exxon Mobil owns the record for the top 10 most-profitable quarters for a U.S. company, as well as the largest annual profit.

Yeah, shareholders deserve to make a profit. But record-setting profits every freakin' quarter, when the average Joe on the street is having to decide between decent food and Hamburger Helper for his kids?

Hey, let's make them more money by drilling for more oil in the Gulf of Mexico and in Alaska. None of that pansy wind, solar, and, other alternative fuels for us he-man Americans
 
What really fucking torques me is that they made a record profit for a quarter-year, and the price of their shares dropped 3 percent because they didn't make as much money as the "analysts" (there's a reason "anal" is the first half of that word!) expected them to make. :rolleyes: How long will it be until Exxon Mobil owns the damn world?

Not annoyed, just feeling that you *earned* the right to go and celebrate the hard work you put in to move yourself ahead. It's important to have that sense of completion and accomplishment, and the ceremony helps with that.

And I think you should take the kids with you, to let them see what you've done, even if they have to miss a half-day or day of school.

I'm doing my graduation so that I have that photograph of me in my cap and gown, with my degree so I proved to the world I've done it.

Not to mention there's a HUGE copy of that print going to my god mother so my mum can go "Look MY daughter actually went to university and completed here degree" cos my god mother thinks the sun shines out of her daughter's backside, when in fact it doesn't.

A few weeks ago...I think it was in the what pissed you off today thread....you had a bad day at work. I told you to cheer up that tomorrow was another day and you said that you thought tomorrow was going to be worse....such the pessemist *shakes head*....

I swear I'm not making that up...I think you were the one I had that conversation with...maybe I should go check....:(
