The Crafting Thread - Show Us What You've Made!

Ok, so he still needs blocking, but it's probably not going to happen because I'm lazy, and he's already on the back of my couch.

Yes, this is the stupid blanket I cried over. He is beautiful to me. He's meant to represent a supernova. The purple in the center is supposed to be the black hole at the center of the supernova, and the two shades of blue and white are supposed to be the flames.

This is literally the only thing I've done this year that I haven't been disappointed with. I'm not just talking crafts, either. So yes, I cried over him last night and said, "Nobody will ever love him as much as I do," and decided to keep him.
I love it!

I mentioned that this is my first Summer Lee pattern from her book, The Surf Wax Socks.

It was a fun mini-challenge to try and complete this sock as fast as possible with only 1 row mishap 😋

There haveeeee been downsides to knitting this quickly but the more I push myself, the more I learn.

My right thumb pad is rough and sensitive, especially touching yarn. I think I could stand to loosen my grip on the actual sock as I go and that would help in the future - I just need to be careful about my tension not loosening in the process.

I didn’t sleep much, but that’s hardly the socks fault. Something felt necessary in the completion of this item - perhaps needing to take control over something tangible. Ultimately, I had to hand control over when I realized there was no way I’d meet my New Years Day deadline - but there’s still strength in continuing anyway.

Strength or delusion 🙃 who’s to say? Me. That’s who.

I cast on the first stitches around 10PM December 26 2025 and I finished around 2:10AM January 3 2026.

Oh, and it fits. It’s snug, but it fits 🤪

That’s so cute! I love the color combo!

I tend to knit so tight that the loops barely move on the needles, which is problematic and leads to a lot of hand pain as well, but somehow, despite it being so damn right, I manage to drop stitches left and right these days.

I crochet tight af and also do yarn-under, instead of yarn-over. For that reason, all my stuff comes out smaller than intended, unless I compensate by upping the hook size.

I also loom knit tightly. I have to be really careful when I use my sock loom, especially, because I will straight-up just break the yarn from the tension.

My first dress! It was my first time and it doesn't fit but I had so much frustrated fun learning. Lol.

Omg, that is beautiful! I want to learn to use the sewing machine I've had for several years, but to be entirely honest, I'm kind of afraid of it. (This is despite the fact that it's one of those in a cabinet from the 70s that could probably withstand a nuclear bomb, lol.)

That dress is gorgeous, and I'm sorry it doesn't fit. Is there any way you could adjust it so that you could possibly wear it?

Thank you!

I don't think I can without doing a lot of work. I didnt leave myself with a lot of wiggle room. But it was my first and it does fit my daughter so it's not a total loss.

This is so pretty!

I used to watch Project Runway back in the day, and a few years ago I watched Sewing Bee, and every time they did something in like 5 hours, I was so inspired. If they can sew a dress in 5 hours, certainly I can do it in 5 days. Right?

Not right. 😂

So hats off to you for creating the dress!

This dress took me all summer... Lots of cursing, tears, a ton of "fuck this"

But I did it! Lol
