Canada bus attack leaves man decapitated

My God. :(

Canada bus attack leaves man decapitated
......

"There was no rage or anything. He was like a robot, stabbing the guy."

Well like Rob was just saying on another thread... Canadiens ARE polite! No reason to get angy when chopping a fellow bus traveller's head off...

Oh dear Lord! Chemicals? Gang warfare? "Bizarre" hardly seems strong enough but I can't come up with anything better. Deranged, perhaps. Certainly horrific. God, those poor people . . .

That is just terrible and frightening.

Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day called the attack bizarre, but did not discuss details, saying he did not want to jeopardize the investigation.

This, however, is quite refreshing. Well too often lately the media is told everything before all of the evidence is gathered and contextualized, and investigation after investigation is spoiled by everyone thinking they know everything, when indeed they do not.

Authorities declined to name the attacker and victim, and provided no other details about the attack.

Yeah. The extreme subtlety of the crime would make this important. Every detail counts, and any little thing could skew the whole investigation all sideways. As laymen, of course, you wouldn't understand.

I'm not surprised. Most bus passengers are pretty crazy.

I know! I know! And what if a busload of witnesses isn't enough??

I know the guy had a knive but couldn't someone have hit him with a carryon bag or something to try to save the guy? of course we'll never know the full details. I'm just askin.

Has anone given any thought to the efficacy of mass transit after the incident reported?

A little factoid from a book I've got, a auto-biography of a man who was a hitter for The Mob in the 50s and 60s.

He walked into a restaurant during a busy lunch hour and shot someone dead. Walked out again. Over 20 witnesses.

He got to read the police report later. They got twenty eyewitness descriptions of him, twenty different eyewitness descriptions of him. None of which matched him. ;)

And tell me Carnie. Are you so skilled with a firearm that you could hit the perp in a crowded bus full of panicking people and not take out at least one innocent bystander?

In fairness, Rob, I think Carnie's point was that in the absence of guns, you simply have more knife crime. The tool is not the essence, as it were.

In fairness to Rob, Cant, guns are inherently more dangerous and capable of killing large numbers of people or even one person than knives are.... In the example I gave on the gun thread, that is why the 82nd Airborne Div. carries more than knives. As do the Bloods and Crips....

If anything, this crime demonstrates how fucking difficult it is to kill somebody with a knife.

Rasputin could have told you that had they not also poisoned and drown him.

Rasputin was also hung and drawn and quartered.

See that's part of the problem though, people tend to overreact when it comes to death of others. Rasputin wasn't exactly a loved man so they probably had a bit of overkill, used a slow poison, tried hanging but the rope broke or whatever so they stabbed him then went for the drawn and quartered, I assume the rope broke or he wasn't tied well so ended up managing to not be torn apart so through his crawling away to their shoving he fell into the river. Certain parts of that were omitted from the general report that we see now.

As it stands, Rasputin was poisoned, hung, stabbed, drawn and quartered and eventually his still living body fell into the freezing river never to be seen again.

You can have the exact same problem with this incident if they do not keep the witnesses stuck away until after they give a report to the police, and they can't release much information so there can be no chance of a jury being unduly prejudiced. Canada paid attention to the O.J. trials I think.

It's easier than that to kill a man with a knife if you have any idea what you're doing.

All that aside (and it's pretty darn irrelevant) I wonder what the hell that guy did? He was only 19, and he'd gotten somebody that pissed off, already. I mean, clearly, in somebody's view, he really had to die.

Maybe the reason why is at his web site...
