A rougher texture, to please my inner painslut... and it's red!

You can expect photos in the near future.

Just thought I'd mention.

I have some left over rescue rope from fire school a long time ago, if you're interested. It's red with yellow braids, pretty heavy duty. Learned how to tie all my knots on that rope, lol.

BTW, rescue rope (rope used to save people) by law, has to be 'virgin' rope. Maybe you want to break it in.

Good job on the new rope.

*grin* I want!

I'm looking for different colours right now, but generally have NO idea where to look.

Homburg? Where do you look?

Not homburg, but for rescue rope, a quick search found this.

http://www.urbanhart.com/shopsite/category_rope.html

Trust me, it's thick and rough enough. They sell it by the foot, if I remember correctly, the 6 foot of rope I got cost me around 9-10 dollars. Expensive, but durable and flexible.

EDIT: Would use it on my GF, but she already has soft restraints, which ironically, are also on the ambulance I'm on. *shakes head*

If you like that, back before my time in EMS (and I've seen them), to restrain patients, they used to use these really big, heavy leather restraints. It looked like something used to restrain a mentally ill person in a asylum.

There was no flex movement in those things either, like soft restraints. Once you were in those things, you were them until someone decided to let you out of them, lol. (Sounds like that's up your alley.)

Good example (not as shown in the picture, lol) they were for hands and feet only.

I've heard some departments still use them.

Rope Products and where to get them:
http://www.bossbondage.com - rope hoists specifically designed for rope suspension use and hemp ropes in pretty colors.
http://www.twistedmonk.com - Hemp rope at about $1/foot, how-to videos
http://wwwlbutteflyrope.com - Silk Rope, Bamboo rope $1.50 - $1.75 / foot
http://www.kinkyropes.com - Hemp, cotton, flax, jute and Promilla ropes. Come with the center already marked. Suspension rings, rescue hooks...
and you already got rainbow ropes site.

You can also go to any boating supply store and get lots of different materials and thicknesses of rope if you don't want to wait (or pay for) shipping and handling.

I got some rainbow ropes the other day. They are so pretty, and the flat braid has a great look when tied.

Sooooo many colours and shapes and types too.

Yay!

Been busy, using rope :D

Here are the manufacturers I have actually used:

As has been mentioned, Rainbow ropes really is a GREAT place to shop. The MFP is very soft though, so you might not dig the texture. They do sell natural fiber stuff, treated and untreated (they buy it from someone else), which might suit you better.

Kinky ropes is good stuff too. Jack Elfrink is one of the single most knowledgable knot-heads I've ever met. He is literally a walking encyclopedia of knots. He also has a new product which is flat webbing made from hemp. Really interesting stuff. His flax rope is really cool stuff. Seriously. Smells a bit weird (like a clean horse barn), but it is soft and stronger than hemp.

TwistedMonk is pretty much the Cadillac of rope. Or some other high end manufacturer if you don't like Caddies. His rope is incredible, period. Honestly, for the money, you cannot find better processed hemp IMO.

As for folks I can recommend, but don't actually have their stuff:

Madame Butterfly, also mentioned above, makes incredible silk rope, and you would not believe what she can do with bamboo, and she happens to be really good people. I hung out with her for a while at FFF, and she's great. Really funny, knowledgeable, etc, and her products are honestly top notch. (NOTE: Monk's silk and bamboo rope is from Madame Butterfly, and Monk just resells it without doing anything to it. That's how good her stuff is.)

www.rawganique.com , a non-kinky company, imports untreated hemp in all sorts of sizes and is VERY VERY reasonably priced. If you are willing to go through the headache of treating your own hemp, you CAN NOT beat their price anywhere that I have seen. I know folks that buy all their hemp from Rawganique, and they swear by it, and I've handled their ropes and agreed that it was quality stuff. I processed my own hemp from Rainbow ropes, and I am, as I said, almost 100% sure that their hemp is either a resell from rawganique, or coming from the same source as rawganique. Probably the former, so I most likely have some rawganique hemp.

www.esinem.com had good prices on Romanian hemp, but he's in the UK. shipping might suck. Bruce is also importing jute as well, and supposedly has some very good stuff at reasonable prices. As Bruce is simply mad for traditional Japanese kinbaku, I would be willing to guess and say that any jute he carries is going to be good stuff. I haven't bought any of his hemp, but I do have some samples, and it is quality rope.

You can also check with any local marine/yachting supply stores if you want stuff that is more harsh. My primary suspension line is premium nylon (2800lb test, which is just freaky-deaky). I wouldn't use yachting line on any body harness stuff that you might have to cut, as it is frequently cut-resistant to say the least. It is still an option, albeit a more expensive one. VERY good for primary load-bearing suspension lines though, which is what I use mine for.

Hmm, not used Bossbondage. I know folks that have.

Japanrope used to carry good stuff, but I think they're out of the resell business now.

Mark at DV8 House in Sydney, AUS, sells Osada Steve jute on Ebay. Good prices, but the shipping is beastly.

Hmm, I had some info on someone that was dying and selling pure nylon rope, as opposed to the nylon/poly crap you see at the hardware store. Can't find the info now though, sorry.

Thank you- I'll look into it. I'm currently bumping around RainbowRope, and will let y'all know what I come out with.

I am SO fucking pleased with this tie.

It took about 3-4 hours.
