Hey everyone -

I was on myspace tonight, tooling around for fresh blogs to read when I found one of my lit stories on someone else's page and not credited to me. You all might want to go check out her blog, because she has oodles of stories there - each written in a different voice and about very different subject matter.

You can access her blogs without being logged in or even being a member. I'd love to know if anyone else's stuff is there. Be sure to go past the first page of blog posts by clicking the teeny-tiny link that says "older."

PS - I wrote to the blog owner and PM'd Laurel already. I'm sure it will be taken care of soon!

Yikes! It's like being trapped in a giant Good'n'Plenty box.

That link is so teeny-tiny that it's invisible.

If you click on the blog called "Marked and claimed by you," there is a teeny tiny blue link directly above the text box on the left side that says, "<back." Click that. It will take you to a page with the same blog at the top, and four or five other blog entries below it (all by the same author). On the right side, there is a box with the fake author's picture in it, a box with her stats, a box with her blog groups listed, a box that lists her subscriptions, and finally box that with another teeny tiny blue link that says "older." They're hard to find - a real pain in the ass. Sorry I wasn't more clear, Box.

I clicked on "<back" and it took me to a page where I was supposed to sign on to the blog and give my name and password. On the same page were "<back" is, there are some boxes as you describe but the "subscriptions" is the last one.

I had the same problem.
Instead of clicking "Marked and Claimed..." click "view all blog entries", about four lines below.

I clicked the older link and just got poetry, some of which had copyright of jai something...

Ditto me...

I also got the MY SPACE sign up page and never could access the "older" or stories page. I followed both Boxlikcer101's instructions and those of starrkers. No success.

Can't tell if I've had anything stolen there. There's no easy way to search MySpace blogs.

I would report it as abuse to the MySpace officials.

I'm working on a cyber ass-kicking right now.
I'll let you know if you need to come help with a physical ass-kicking, too.

Cool!

I know, we should use our words first. (Us being authors 'n stuff.)

If that doesn't work . . .

This is my first time to write here, but this realy makes me mad. Reading through "her" stories, I've found a few that are from the site that she's changed a tiny bit. Some are from wishful_thinker and others. Take time and read through them. She's changing characters to make them seem different.

Wow. Clever bitch, isn't she? You have a very good eye.:rose:

I have a few choice phrases from some of my stories that I google in quotes every so often.

Even if people change names or the title or even remove the first paragraph it should catch them.

I say - should.

Here's my contention with your thread. Can't you deal with it yourself?

They all seem vaguely familiar, although I couldn't place who they belong to. A couple I might have read in the Halloween contest. There's a poem too, that seemed awfully familiar.

Gee, her friends think she's talented.

Sounds like she is, yes?

I don't understand what you mean.

I figured logo started the thread to warn others to check for their possibly stolen stories.

Seriously, babe. Deal with it on your own - can't you?

 What's it to you, Charley? It's a public forum, yes? I can post or not as I see fit.

Charley has a problem differentiating between plagiarized stories and advertising.

It's a pet peeve of hers along with bored people and i think fruit salad. or was that squirrels? .
