FLDS compound

Dun dun duuuuun!
*paranoia ensues*

If they don't get you, their many, many wives will. Someday you'll be in your local grocery store and BAM...attacked by a gang of gingham-clad Stepford wives beating you with produce and packages of melba toast.

But...but...I hate melba toast!

It's bad enough that they water down their alcohol to Coors Light levels...

As I've demonstrated above, your motive extended beyond that. You weren't forthcoming about your mom and your strong pro-Mormon stance. I had to dig up 3-year-old posts to keep you honest.

*shrug* You fucked up.

I fucked up because I didn't say my mom used to be a Mormon? I didn't realize I had to tell my life story everytime I got into a discussion about Mormonism.

you're insane. literally.

Fair enough. An apology for twisting my words and accusing me of being less than upfront about my position from the beginning would have been a nice touch, but at least we're not wrangling about established church positions anymore, which is good.

you see, I didn't twist your words. I misunderstood. I should apologize for misunderstanding? ok. sorry.

?

Keep playing dumb. It hasn't helped you so far in this thread, though.

how am I playing dumb?? I honestly didn't know I needed to give all my encounters with Mormonism for me to be allowed to post in this thread.

it has nothing to do with anything. I told you what my motivation was, your idiocy. if you'd like to choose not to believe me, go ahead. that seems to be the way you live your life... who am I to stop you?

It's not about "being allowed". It's about being forthcoming with your biases. A Mormon mom and having an extremely pro-Mormon stance are things one ought to disclose when discussing Mormon issues. I certainly have no qualms about being up front with my biases on the subject, do I?

it has nothing to do with anything.

Sure.

Now you're being obtuse.

Yes. And splitting hairs, as Slowlane says.

Now you're being obtuse.

Don't all religions that believe in an after-life essentially believe that you are "sealed" for eternity with your spouse? If you are married and your spouse dies, and you remarry, then (s)he dies, then you die... who is married to whom in the after-life? I don't see the distinction you are making with respect to Mormons.

Sure.

ok, well, I'll make sure I present all my "biases" before I enter any discussion with you from now on.

oh wait. I'm not EVER going to do that again. why? because, as stated, you're craaaaaaazy.

not even all denominations of Christianity believe that. a Bible teacher in school told me that we wouldn't even know each other as family in heaven.

you got your apology. what more do you need?

You apologised for misunderstanding, not for misrepresenting me. Your inability to own your own words and actions on this thread has been kind of disappointing and somewhat cringeworthy to observe. But I don't think the dialogue between us is really going anywhere at this stage, so there doesn't seem a lot of point in flogging a dead horse.

Don't bother. It's taken this long to get you to admit the truth in the face of the evidence - who wants to be fussed?

You can continue being a spokesperson for issues like these. But, given your lack of integrity, you're not doing anyone in your preferred ball court any favors.

I'm certainly no scholar on Christian doctrine, but as I understand it there will be no "marriage" because your soul is not male/female - such distinctions are corporeal.

Starting a new post to present a different avenue of thought. The LDS church has been very quick to dissociate themselves from the FLDS, and rightly so, as they are completely separate groups. I don't know much about the FLDS - does anyone know what other doctrinal differences there are aside from the polygamy one. Have their prophets received other revelations which have taken them further from other mormon churches doctrinally? Can black men hold the priesthood in the FLDS church?

There hasn't been a whole load of coverage of the ensuing drama in the UK, but I'm fascinated by the case.

no one else owns my words but me. the only reason they were what they are is misunderstanding. nothing else. I apologized. that's all there is and can be.

You've won the Over-Dramatic Post of the Day!

Here's your hourglass:

what truth have I denied? like I said, disbelieve me if you like, but it's YOUR bias, not mine that brought me in here.

regardless, what the fuck do you care why I say anything? YOU can't prove ANYTHING you say. I don't have to justify ANYTHING to you.

I don't know of any other Christian churches that believe in eternal marriage. I'm not saying there aren't any, but I don't know of any. Most Christian wedding ceremonies involve the words 'till death do us part'. In addition to marriage, mormons have sealings which take place in their temples. Husbands are sealed to wives and they can be sealed to their children as eternal family units. Marriage is 'till death do us part', sealings are 'for time and all eternity'.
