It's that time of year again!

Will Tiger surpass Arnold with his 5th Green Jacket? The 3 inches of rain they have had there will help him out. Not that he needs any help.

ESPN is carrying some of the par 3 shenanigans tomorrow.

TW has been awfully impressive so far this year. Heck, he finished only two shots off the winning score last year despite a rash of double bogeys on the finishing holes over the course of the tournament. One would have to be either stupid or foolhardy to bet against him this week.

Someone else to watch for will be Geoff Ogilvy. He has that high arcing iron shot that's necessary for placement on the Augusta greens as well as the steadier nerves that come from having succeeded before in a major. Further - look at his strong finishes so far this year. I don't give Zach Johnson any better chance of being a repeat winner than I'd give for Gary McCord to be elected Chairman of Augusta National.

My money is on ogilvy..

I do thing tiger is awesome though.. And the fact he is such a huge favourite considering how many players are in the tournament just shows how much respect people have for him too.

I'll take Vijay Singh. He's playing well right now and has the game to win on the course in soft conditions.

The only problem with this scenario is that Vijay will have to remember to bring to Augusta the putter that actually works. And there's a good deal of doubt that he's certain which one of his three thousand putters qualifies.

The front 9 is playing very tough in the early going so far.

As an undeniably old fart, I'm thrilled to see Mark O'Meara playing so well today.

Speaking of old farts, Freddie needs to pick it up some if he is going to make his 24th cut in row. Five bogeys on the front side.

Agreed. I'd love to see him do well, though there's something magical about Gary Player holding onto at least part of a lifetime record at The Masters.

Pound for pound, Lorena Ochoa might be the best golfer right now. She's dominating the ladies tour.

I'd eat her taco too.

She does bring out that yen for sweet young things, I'll agree to that. And she plays a helluva golf game. I was mightily impressed with the way she handled herself in the wind at St. Andrews last year.

Another one for the old fogeys: Tom Watson birdies 17 to give himself a decent chance to post a fair score. And how about Gary Player going around in only 83 at the age of 72? He's pretty amazing.

I imagine there was quite a roar when Player eagled the 15th.

Phil sure has been hitting the weights. He's lost 25 pounds of fat and gained 15 pounds of muscle. Serious masturbation material for Desert Rose. :rose:

Yea, but how's he hitting the clubs? Last time I looked, he's 1 under. Did he get rid of those man-tits you hate so much?

And as for mastErbation material, Freddie's always been my dreamboat.

I'll get to start watching for real this weekend. Damned work gets in the way of all my fun!

This IS our annual date weekend... right? ;-)

Freddie is too pretty for you. I have pictured you with Retief Goosen.

I noticed Phil's recent trim-down as well. It doesn't seem to have helped his putting. Maybe he used to sight the ball off his left man-boob and now he can't get lined up properly.

Well, being a little bit chauvinist... I will support for the 3 Spanish boys!
Jose Maria Olazabal, Sergio García & Miguel Angel Martín! :)

Hope they will give spectacle!

Olly is a tad long in the tooth for the setup of the course these days. Sergio, bless his little brain, has the iron game of a twenty year old and the putting of a geezer. Miguel Angel had the "pleasure" of playing with Gary Player these first two days. I wonder how many times Gary suggested that he give up the cigars and get a haircut? :D

No one under 30 in the field has won a major. Would be nice to see another Tiger or Nickalus come along.

No doubt one will - but it's interesting to note that starting with Nicklaus's heyday the men who were the undisputed tour leaders for more than a year or so were all about ten years apart in age. Palmer is now 78, Player 72, and Nicklaus is 68. Trevino is about the same age as Nicklaus. Tom Watson is now 58. The next really dominating players in the string were Curtis Strange and Greg Norman, who are both a year or so over 50. After Strange and Norman, Tiger was the next truly dominating figure to come along. I'd look at the crop of players that's between 18 and 24 right now for the next potentially dominant player.

Gary Player shot 78 today and just told Mike Tirico during a post-round interview that prior to his start he told himself that only if he broke 80 today would he return to play again next year. We will see him again.

I thought this was it after he kissed the green. A 78 at his age is amazing considering how long Augusta is now.
