My Uncle married a Chinese woman in 1960. My Italian family was in a panic. The woman's father refused to let them marry as well. He went to my grand mother, and stated his objections to their getting married. In his culture he would not allow his daughter to marry with our the permition of the son's mother. In other words whit out my grandmother consent, he would not consent. What a cool guy.
