The poll is flawed because it doesn't contextualise very well. I'll assume that you are talking about either North America or Europe.

I think white people in general. I think the thread was supposed to say white people are racist.

Well again it depends on context. Discrimination works on individual, cultural and structural levels. In terms of cultural and structural levels, most north western societies at least are inherently racist and most white people, certainly of my generation are also racist to an extent. It's something that has been inculcated into us from an early age.

In my case it was being told by my uncle (who was high up in the Met) that 'nignogs' were all rapists and murderers and the women were all prostitutes. Combined with the media which totally excluded any positive images of ethnic minorities and my own geographic isolation, this became my world view. It was only when I moved to Leeds and then London that the lies were exposed.

I'm not saying that Black or Asian people don't make racists comments, but the comments they make are on an individual level. Without the cultural and structural support, it's basically name calling, unlike when white people use racist language. I have to say that in all the time I lived in London, I never ever was abused because of my skin colour and the only time a black guy followed me home, it was to check I got to my door safely. And of course the biggest irony is that the two times I've been sexually assaulted/raped, they were white.

I have a sneaking feeling you are probably one of the white power alts that lurk however, so care not what I think either way:rolleyes:

Divide and Conquer

The pack or tribal nature of humans and animals make them hostile to outsiders until they show they're not a threat- it's absolutely natural.

It's how the world's natives were decimated because of their tribal differences kept them from becoming a unifying defense against colonialism.

In the case of politics, individuals/governments use that basic tribal caution to keep different tribes (races/creeds) from uniting against edicts and policies unfair to the group in a selective way to each different segment but never affecting all at once.
