Friends,

Recieved a letter in the mail a couple days ago. It was from the Tribal Elders.

i guess one of them had been lurking around Lit, and saw my tribal name on here. He or she reported to the Elders that a true tribal name was a forum member on Literotica.

So the letter stated that this name ( doveofserenity) had to be removed and killed off of Lit.

It pisses me off, but it is either kill the name or lose my tribal privileges and rights. i cannot afford spiritually or monetarily to lose those rights, so i have decided that i am closing doves account and will return in a few days in a name that has nothing to do with the tribe.

i have already explained this to FF, and will be contacting Manu to see if i can get the name erased from Lit also. Don't know how that works.

Those that know me, i will let you know when i return as to what the new name is.

Last thing i will say as doveofserenity,

Also, as far as erasing the name, it IS possible to have your account *changed* to a different name, and all your old posts will automatically be "corrected" to the new name. I know this is possible because my original sign-up name had a typo I didn't notice until after I'd hit the "Submit" button, and I petitioned for, and got, a correction made, and my old posts popped back up with the corrected name. (It took a few days, if I remember correctly, but it did get done.)

Pardon me, but I am a bit braty today, so when I hear someone saying "you must do this" I feel like shout at them "I don't have to do fuking anything except die one day!!"

I am usualy okay with obeying my PYL, but as for the rest, I hate when someone tells me what and when to do. *LOL* It just doesn't work on me. I so enjoy living on my own atm!! The fact I can do what I want when I want it just ROCK!! Only person who can keep me in line when I get a bit wild is is my Sir.

Before leaving and starting over, you might like to PM Laurel and ask if under the circumstances it is possible to change your username so you don't lose your post count etc. They used to be very strict about not doing it, but in recent times they have made a few exceptions, some of them with members from this forum. Sorry you have this stress to deal with.

My guess would be that dove has mentioned it is her tribal name on occasion, and think she might have posted a pic as well. I imagine the problem lies in tribal law, respect, reputations etc., but could be wrong..let's face it, plenty try and keep it from public knowledge because of backlash in the mainstream world, this is likely an extension or similar issue.

It may be her local tribe but it is Indian. Yes, she is Cherokee, it's one of the things that made us "sisters". She's been taking classes on learning the language and getting more involved with her tribe. This is very serious to her. Maybe some dont mind, but maybe her tribal elders do.

No I'm not, I honestly am not getting it. I'm only part cherokee and part choktaw. I had neighbors in Oklahoma that never spoke English at home even as they were natives, went to school with a bunch of natives, buddies with em etc. and I've never heard of this level of control being imposed on anyone but muslim women by a group of elders. I could have missed it but I didn't think that the tribe had that kind of control. If they do I would imagine that they had a lot of other things to worry about besides somebody's username on lit.

My grandmother was full blooded Cherokee. i follow a lot of my tribal ways, including going thru the proper ceremonies to be given that tribal name.
The Cherokee will tell you(those that TRULY care about their heritage, anyways) that there are certain ceremonies that do not get discussed, due to the fact that those ceremonies are very private and personal to us.

i receive tribal funding, and funeral pyre rights. And in doing so; since i do not live on the reservation; i have to follow certain rules that the Elders have put into law for all of us that do not live there. Unless i want to take the chance of having my funding taken away; and more importantly for me; the right to be allowed to have my soul sent up to the Greater Spirits through use of the funeral pyre.

So, that is why i removed the name. If you don't like it, i don't give a shit!

Different people use their tribal names in different ways. Some only use them at tribal ceremonies or local pow-wows; things like that.

Mine had become a part of me, so much that it is part of the tattoo on my back.

They mean different things to different people, it is just the individual that decides how much those names mean to them.

And as i stated above in my rant, the names are given during special ceremonies; and those ceremonies are not allowed to be discussed in detail. Sorry.
