do redheaded women get men commenting on their hair a lot in their daily lives?

LOL, yes.

I even got a racy comment during a job interview once. The weirdest thing is that people want to touch it.

I'm not a redhead, but when you ask this question, you have to keep in mind country and culture. I had a friend from England whose wife is a redhead. On meeting her for the first time, I complimented her hair which was a stunning shade of copper. She was taken aback. Evidently, in parts of Britain, the old stigma of red hair remains. It's considered undesirable and redheads are more likely to get rude rather than flattering comments on it.

She'd never gotten a compliment on her hair before. I told her that she was in for a treat here in the U.S. :D

I can identify with this... the question is about women receiving compliments, not men, so I am slightly OT, but...

I grew up wishing my hair was a different color and I can honestly say that only in the last five years have I learned to accept and enjoy it. I always gave much more credence to the "Opie" comments and was very self-conscious.

I was almost shocked to discover that many women liked my red hair. I wish I had noticed years earlier...

Yes, with a couple of friends who are redheads, I get pissed when men's heads turn to look at them.

There are drawbacks mind. Buying clothes is a nightmare because so few colors match pale skin and a carrot top. Then, there's a problem in the sun cos of the pigmentation and needing sunoil SF Zillion to avoid looking like an overcooked beetroot.

That said, they do draw a crowd, all waiflike and sexy. Hate them:D

Black. Works for me ;)

Yeah, that's true...

I've had hairdressers blink disbelievingly when they ask where my hair color came from and I say, "It's natural." Then they have to call the whole shop over to look and exclaim...

Like Bel, I used to hate it... I got the pippi longstocking comments, etc. But I don't mind it anymore.

When I was in high school, I dyed my hair every color but the natural red. It wasn't until I was an adult that I started to like my hair.

It wasn't until I was an adult that I dared to dye it! lol My parents wouldn't let me... ;)

I think they're always drop dead sexy.

Now, let's talk about the first thing that pops up. ;)

I read something about that on the BBC and was really taken aback. A prejudice against red hair? How weird can you get? My mother loves red hair and always regretted that marrying an Italian pretty much eliminated any possibility of having any in the family. I think that she is quite pleased that both my daughter and my son's main squeeze have both dyed theirs red.

It might be because red hair is seen as an Irish trait and, somehow, redheads are associated with IRA terrorists.

No, actually, it's much, much older than that. It's the old Christian belief that Judas was a redhead--and association with red hair and demons, like Lilith  It's not that folk still believe this, they just carry that age old prejudice of association: red hair = bad.

It's like associating the color black with badness.

Hm. For some reason I thought you were a brunette. Well. Now I insist that the next sexy avatar of yourself you post you include at least a hint of that red hair!

I had some random woman start picking at my hair from behind me while I was walking down the strip in Vegas a couple of years ago. Apparently red hair is good luck in the casinos and she told my husband that he had to have me right next to him whenever he played the tables or the slots so he'd keep winning.

Do redheads have red bottoms?

If they're real redheads.

One branch of my family has flaming red hair. One of the boys saw a girl at a dance with exactly the same colour hair as his. He asked her to dance.

Once married they started their family with redheaded twins.
