The last time I was in the USA, in New York, an obese man outside a McDonald's asked me if I had a few bucks to spare. I was shocked. I come from a place where there is serious poverty, and guess what, the poor eat the healthiest. I found that the American food industry has ruined it - everything is GM and the poor survive on junk. It's bizarre. There are things Americans consume every day that are actually banned in Europe and Asia. Hope it gets better, people deserve proper food.

It does seem weird that the wealthiest country in the world can't seem to set up an economy where shelter isn't so expensive homeless people live in the streets, where food isn't so expensive hungry people can't afford their groceries, where people don't go bankrupt when they have serious medical problems and where jobs pay enough that people can at least get by.
