The funds for SNAP are there, already in place from taxes already paid.
Johnson is deliberately holding back the funds as leverage to try to force the Dems to agree to gut healthcare. He said this out loud for us all to hear, it's not a secret agenda. He is also holding back on the swearing in on a Dem Congressional candidate because that would enable a vote to release the Epstein Files. A government shutdown did not prevent him from swearing in MAGAT candidates.
Unmotivated? Not sure how you get that. People in your country drag themselves out of bed to catch the early bus to work long hours in execrable conditions for low pay. It's the rich and their nepo-babies who sit idly on the beach, their money secure in tax shelters.
Uneducated? Maybe your country should put a little more into funding education so, for example, teachers don't have to pay for classroom supplies out of their own pocket?
Unemployable? All those people who pick cabbages in the hot sun, clean offices in the dead of night, cut up pigs and cows in hazardous conditions, run themselves ragged in Amazon warehouses without piss breaks . . .
Your country is a dark comedy version of A Christmas Carol with masked stormtroopers grabbing immigrant workers off job sites screaming, "Stop that hard work and let us spend taxpayer dollars throwing you in jail and paying for your plane ticket to Eswatini!"

No, no I would never buy the soda when water is free. I do agree with you that healthy foods should be cheap, but they already ARE cheaper! I will list my buy at Sam's Club so please remember this is in BULK. 6 pack multi colored bell peppers $6, 2 lbs of broccoli crowns $6, 2 lbs of brussel sprouts $5, 10lbs of potatos $5, 2 lbs of bok choy $7, 6lbs of onions $6. (That's all rounded up, btw). Now for frozen meals. $13 for 12 pack of mini pizza, $17 for 3lbs of chicken nuggets, $13 for 8 pot pies, $17 for 20 hot pockets (a few were on sale). The premade frozen stuff IS more expensive. With the veggies I bought, I can make more meals than what I bought frozen. If you would choose the soda over the water, that's on you and shows how you think. That's why I'm not on food stamps anymore. Learn new skills and don't buy garbage. My mother took us to Europe 5 times while I was a child and all she had was food stamps, section 8, and MY disability check. and she saved enough for us to travel across England, France, Germany, Hungary (where she's from), and several other countries. After I escaped her, she got on her own disability and went straight to South America for a month. It's because of her that I can't sympathize with people who whine about being poor. You're not poor, your PRIORITIES are poor. How can someone on ONLY government aid save enough to globe trot with a kid but you can't even feed yourself in this wealthy country? The answer is simple. She picked the water.

Are you providing Sam's Club memberships to all of those on SNAP?
He's like all these people from well-to-do families who never experienced racial or religious prejudice and have enjoyed good health and got mortgage tax breaks and college financial aid and their parents/grandparents collect social security etc. etc. etc. and who rant about how other people have to "pull themselves up by their own bootstraps"!

Prioities are getting calories to your family, which isn't always easy nor affordable....and with a small amount of money, you stretch it as best you can.
People who belittle those who need it are horrible people. People who complain because unhealthy food is being purchased because it's cheaper are even worse people.

I "technically" received my very first ever "food pantry package" last night.
My neighbor is a zone manager for community food banks....she coordinates pickup and distributions of donations. The amount of fresh produce at or slightly past its expiration date donated by local supermarkets is astounding. By law once produce is X number of days past sell by, it cannot be legally sold or even given away.
She came home with two bushel baskets full of oranges, the saddest collection of oranges you'll ever see.
She "gifted" me one entire basket. I think there must have been a half dozen to a dozen different TYPES of oranges, about 30-40 overall. So last night I watched the world series while juicing oranges.
I had "freshly squeezed orange juice" for breakfast (and will likely have enough for the next week or so. It wasn't bad, honestly, and a lot sweeter than I recalled fresh orange juice tasting.
If only poor people were smart enough to live on the same street as a food bank coordinator. they could get semi-fresh produced delivered to their doorstep like I did!

If you go to the usda.gov website, an official site of the United States Government, you get a splash screen saying 'No SNAP for you! All the Democrats' fault! They are holding your food stamps hostage until illegal aliens can get health care and trannies can get government-funded "genital mutilation" surgery.
