Comments That Make Your Day

Back to our regularly scheduled programming, I got this on Ride It Like You Stole It the other day amidst all the chaos with the Activity page:
---
First I want to thank you for all your time and effort that I know it takes writing stories like these. Second I want to say that without doubt you are a very gifted and talented writer. This story to me was the sexiest and erotic stories that I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

I would Love for you to continue this as a series. Like you said there are so many places that this could go. You already mentioned some, parties, spending the entire night with a man that wined and dined them, the list goes on along with some additional out of this world amazing stories.

(snip) ...since the last time she who shall not be named was around.
And, as far as I can tell, she hasn't been around since several of us made complaints about her behaviour. Notwithstanding which, every constructive, reasonable post-St_cnash comment has been appreciated all the more when compared to the bar that she set. That's why I like this thread: not because all the quoted comments tend to be nice, but because they're nice in the context of a shitty world.

One of my characters tried to express that in an epistolary story (Love You To The Moon And Back):

'Do you know that Chris Rea song, "Driving Home for Christmas?" I guess it's a very English Christmas song, and it's full of happy bells and feelings. But if you read up on Chris Rea, he has lived much of his recent life in intense physical pain. And his blues recordings reflect that. That stupid song is all over the radio every year, but it's not his everyday experience: it's about the dream of a rare good day with the people who are most important to him when life is doing its worst.'

I love that song, and I love it all the more for knowledge of his pancreatic cancer (although all that happened after he wrote the song).

I mean, you're not wrong.... but was racism really the biggest ethical problem you saw with this plot synopsis?
Oh no, the whole thing sounded like a dumpster fire, from nonconsensual sex (through drugging) to forced feminization of their (white, of course) husbands to the aforementioned racism of the entire plot as described in the original “looking for story” post. I try not to kink shame, but…

Back on topic, I've just found this comment from August. For reference, over half my stories contain some same-sex activity, and After the Funeral is in Gay Male (an under-read story if I say so myself, rated well but zero comments).

Not many people like my wide range of stories, so I was particularly chuffed to read:

Not a fan of same sex stories (-2 points).
Love your story telling style (+15).
Came to you for "Accredited Sadist", enjoying "After the funeral" and this story
[Londoner Calling, Erotic Horror]. All 3 will get 5*

In this story you mentioned 'Simon Peter being 'petros, my rock' wasn't [...] hilarious a millennium ago,' If you do do story requests I'd like a blasphemous story on this theme featuring "Petros Rock Cock"

If you weren't such a good writer I'd suggest more story elements but when one is in the hands of a master crafter - just let them get on with it.

Hm. How would Bible slash go down in Fan Fic/Celebrities, I wonder? Not quite as badly as if Jesus was married and the story was in LW, I suppose...

Well this was lovely from @Silverdaddy1945

What an incredible start and insight to the series.

Another writer/author on here recommended following you, that your writing was brilliant. I am so glad they did and that I have. Your writing is so brilliant and enveloping. Once I start reading one or your stories I can’t stop until the end. Thank you so much.

I mean, I love their comment, but even better is knowing one of my fellow authors has been recommending me to their readers. How lovely! Thanks, whomever you are!

I got this one this morning on "Homeless." It's my new favourite.

"Anonymous about 4 hours ago
I will not read anymore of your stories. I spend too much time with tears in my eyes. Time for me to register with Literotica so you can be in my first five favorites!"

It just made my day!

Post your comments when a fan makes your day. :D
@gordo12,
Good evening my dear colleague, mine would be, and I quote;
"Nice! That was erotic horror done well."

A simple succinct appreciation of the story and of me.
Deepest respects,
D.

"Yes, she barely avoided murder, suffers infertility and relationship anxiety but did she ever say sorry and mean it?"

From a longer (and well-considered) comment on my latest, which is in Loving Wives. LMAO.

From Anon on 'Memories of Sandy'. Nearly 4000 words of crying - I'll take it.

5 stars and a soda ! i cried thru pages 3 and 4...i dont normally read incest storys But this was special,,Thank You

I just received this comment this morning. Someone asked on the story itself, too, and I didn't respond, because I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I was going to do one myself, but... I think this email is the same person. So, I'm going to let them do it and leave mine just for my husband to have. If they are different people, I'm going to let both of them do it. The idea of a bunch of different people doing it in different tones with different inflection and emotion behind it actually sounds kinda beautiful to me.

My reader's comment was damn near long enough for the 750-word project. This was on Stormwatch Chapter 10 which is a re-write of an older series and parallels the Andi's Dream series. Several chapters highlight the same events from Andi's Dream, but the events are shown from different viewpoints (How does he get bold text into comments???)

Just another tale that was created from an Outstanding Read ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rated creation.

Your mind must be something. You took a completed tale and blended it with newly imaged stuff. That created a beautiful journey that enhanced the original tale/series Stormwatch while blending it into overall storyline of your creations.

I don’t know how you do it. But one thing is sure I hope you continue to do it until you can’t. This one was another one that earned an Outstanding Read ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating.

The only reason it only got an Outstanding Read ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating is because there are not any higher ones.

I can’t wait to see how you blend Andy’s Dream part of the kidnaping into a Stormwatch reaction to the kidnaping. Thanks for sharing your creations.

Keep Writing

That was the most erotic story I have read in ages, the concept worked perfectly, bringing the photo album out, creating an emotional and erotic connection. Thank you for your efforts.

That was for: The Loaner Husband Ch 2.

Other than a DM. I wonder how to make a simple acknowledgement to readers who drop nice comments. Let them know I appreciate taking time to make the compliment. There's no LIKE button under a reader comment unless im missing something. Cheers all.

Sadly there's no easy mechanism. You could message them via the forum, but there's no guarantee that they're active on this side of the site. you could send them private feedback via their user profile page, if they have that setting turned on.

Many people (myself included) will post a comment to their own story thanking the commenter, but they won't get a notification and I don't think very many readers go back and look at the comments a second time 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for that. I made a gratitude response in the comments area for at least one story. Just wanted to let them know I read the comments and appreciate the words. Now back to checking punctuation in the next story. Sigh.

Not exactly a comment, but... @THBGato published a review of my work (without telling me, so it was a bit of a jumpscare to see it on my author feed this morning), and I'm a bit overwhelmed. It's too embarrassing to quote most of it, but one part that I will proudly display on my tombstone is:

For this story, Penny put together a team of brilliant beta readers, from the legend that is Emily Miller, to inter-racial specialist SinclairGroupLLP, E&V hall of famer Nynah, and recent competition winner Actingup. This is yet another strength of Penny's - she understands that writing is not a zero-sum game. We can be great individually, and even better together. She seeks support, actively collaborates and taps into other's expertise in order to make her stories as absorbing as she possibly can.

(bolding emphasis mine.) In the last 12 months I've discovered that I love writing erotica, I love sharing my stories with others, I love getting feedback from readers... but more than anything else about this hobby, I love interacting with other writers who I respect and admire, collaborating and beta reading and DM'ing little snippets back and forth.

To every single person I've gotten to interact positively with here, I love you very much 🥰

Right back at you, kiddo!

I work on the theory that, although most people won’t check for a response, some of them do, and others will see your appreciation and be motivated to comment accordingly. I also DM named commentators when I have the energy.

I love that idea in theory. I know @EmilyMiller makes an effort to reply to all comments.

The reality for me is I'm far too lazy 😆

I do try and make up for that by at least adding a "Thank You" to readers in the Afterwards and to let them know all comments are welcomed and appreciated.
