I have replied to a couple of particularly thoughtful comments via the feedback option on the story side. If I have seen their name on the forum side, I will PM here. Sometimes they respond back again, usually not. I had a long stretch of never checking gmail account I use for here. I had no reason to once I had it established. I have only had a small number of feedbacks sent to me there instead of comments or PM's here.

Oh, no, I meant I reach out to them via the form. But, yes, if they contact me, I chat, too.

The creepy ones get sent to spam after the first creepening.

I do wish there was a way to contact anonymous commenters, particularly if they bring up a good critique of the story as I would like to thank them for bringing it to my attention and pick their brain a little on it.

I can't get my mind past the modified contract. Too many people who would know better somehow missed it? The main character, PERSONALLY FAMILIAR WITH THE FUCKERY that goes on in the business never had a lawyer (either personal or one from work) review it?

This pleases me because the anonymous commenter picked up on something I meant readers to notice. That contract thing really isn't plausible. It's a plot point.

I work on the theory that, although most people won’t check for a response, some of them do, and others will see your appreciation and be motivated to comment accordingly. I also DM named commentators when I have the energy.

I rarely reply there on the comment page, only if the commenter is anonymous. But I try to send a DM to named commentators. When I get a DM from a reader, I end up chatting back and forth with them, and add them to my readers list. Every Sunday evening I send out an email to that list describing what projects I'm working on, be it writing or making Christmas ornaments. It's great fun chatting with my readers and I even have a couple of writers on my email list. I wasn't sure if it meant anything but last week I didn't get my "News Letter" out and I got several emails wondering if I was OK. I found out yesterday that Lubrican, a writer who has been around forever, a guy I truly admire for his skill and his longevity (I followed him on ASSTR) does the same thing.

I will reply on the comment page if there is a clear misunderstanding, because that can mislead other readers.
