I know a few guys who have been working the oil fields in the Bakken Formation. From what they've told me, its very very lucrative, but not many last for long. Hard, dirty and relentless work. Especially during a boom. Only 1 of the 6 people i know, made it more than 10 months, and he stayed for 18. Made shit loads of money, but came back fucking worthless and blew every last dime. That was in the North Dakota area. I can only imagine the extra difficulties working in Alaska.

Maybe when i was in my early 20s, i could of made it a year, but now? Fuck that, I'm about 20 years past that opportunity. I get pissy when i have to work 5 days in a row!

This is different work from what you see on "Landman". Mostly all construction. A different mindset.

Yup, but after 3 weeks working 12 hr days, ya get that stare on your face and you become a safety hazard. The statistics say safety incidents go up after 14 days, but after 21 days they skyrocket.

We have 4 adults living here and it still isn't too bad. I try not to leave my clothes until the last minute. Like now, my light color shirts needs washed but I'm not going anywhere soon so I'm open to washing anytime really.

Sharing with family is fine. I'm not all that thrilled sharing with others. And I only do laundry twice a month.

I don't mind it with my roommates for some reason. Maybe cause I like them and we respect each other??? I'm not sure.
