Finally got the medical nonsense taken care of yesterday. Momma’s squared away and doc said she may only need two radiation treatments rather than three. Either way, she has one more CT scan to pinpoint the exact area with die then gets zapped.

SWMBO came down w a bug so she’s out of commission for the weekend…

Watched Control last night…biographic film on Ian Curtis of Joy Division. Based on his widows book. It was a good film but sad. Always loved Joy Div and I contend. for my money, New Order is the best of that whole post punk genre.

This is good to know. I’m sure it’s probably a difficult film to watch.

I was not so much a New Order fan, but I did like Joy Division a lot.

If you ever want to see a much more lighthearted take on the whole Manchester (Madchester scene), check out 24 Hour Party People. Excellent movie.

Yeah - not even this date put out. Kidney alarm went off after about 5 hours sleep and that was that Hoping for a nap later!!!

Just got home. 1200 miles and 28 hrs of driving time over 6 days.
Really great trip.

When I was still mailing them, my family used to have to wait for their Christmas presents until sometimes July. I'm such a procrastinator! I always thought it would be cool to get random presents wrapped in Christmas paper in the middle of summer!

40 years ago my mom threw a Christmas In July party... complete with Santa and full Christmas Decorations all over the house. Off. The. Hook.
People still talk about it to this day.

I miss her, too. I imagine she can't access this site where she is.

Niagara Falls is definitely on my bucket list! I love waterfalls!

I have been there several times. They are spectacular. I always saw them from the Canadian side.

We went once as part of a summer vacation trip. Like @Wonderer67 we were passing it along the way, so made a day of it. We crossed the border to the Canadian side - didn't need passports back in those days. Dad knew none of us kids or mom had ever been outside the US. Was a wonder at that young age hearing so many people speaking French - I loved it! Couldn't understand a word, but it was a novel experience. We visited the falls and spent so much time on the observation deck riveted by the falls... and the mist from the spray that was everpresent. I love that my dad gave us this experience!!

I've started working on my powder room painting project.

We have a few around here... not a lot but enough that they're not totally uncommon either.

Tom mispronounced "Wilkes-Barre" on the Deadwood show. I was kinda disappointed. Hell, if I know, then everyone should know.

That is disappointing. I know first-hand that Local Pronunciations don't always follow Proper Pronunciations. You always need to check in w/ the locals or look the fool.

Yep - it's not just the cute furry animals that graze on tasty offerings. Trash pandas and more have a seat at that table, too.

Some of them are native to the Great Lakes region.

Glad a deeper dive is being done for your mom. MRI with contrast is an excellent diagnostic tool IMO. The contrast dye can be a bit hard on some. For me, I always brought along a snack (i.e. green grapes or an apple). I often needed a little boost afterwards.

Sorry this is such a Good News / Bad News rollercoaster. Even though they're technically chores, I'm glad you have some time with them both. I don't miss the burden of caring for an aging parent, but I do miss those moments together doing simple chores or just chatting over coffee.
