Monogamy among Rock Stars and Pro Athletes

My wife and I were talking about the wives of Rock stars like Mick Jagger, Machine Gun Kelly, and pro athletes like David Beckham, Tom Brady, etc… guys who gorgeous women swoon for all over the world.

Is it reasonable for the women who date, then marry these highly desired men to expect them to live up to their promise to be strictly monogamous?

We’re all impressed by people who never cheat, but we don’t really acknowledge that it’s not equally challenging for everyone. A guy who is not conventionally handsome, and is shy around women may never be in a position to decline an offer of NSA sex - so monogamy will be quite easy. But would that same person be able to decline them if the offers were never-ending and from the worlds sexiest women? Superstar athletes and musicians probably get offers of NSA sex every damn week, and probably from women who are unimaginably attractive.

I'm a big sports fan and a former collegiate athlete myself as a baseball player. I for one have never understood why any professional athletes would get married. It makes zero sense when you really think about all the hottest looking women who constantly throw themselves at these guys (especially in comparison with the average joe out there) and the ramifications of what comes with a divorce. They have millions of dollars, fame and adulation. The world is literally their oyster. Why give away your power?

One athlete who did it the right way was Derek Jeter from the New York Yankees. From about 1995 I'd say all the way up till about 2010 he had been banging everything in sight. Celebrity or non celebrity, gorgeous women. He never had the tie down of marriage till long after his playing days were over.

The offer may not match the contents. Athletes are at risk of batshit obsessives as much as any type of celebrity. The extreme level of competition in millionaire sports brings severe consequences for small mistakes.

Well, lots of people faun over stars and atheletes. I guess there is some allure. I don't think because someone has excellent music, acting, or sports skills, makes them great in bed. Actually, the reverse is probably true. They are probably so self-absorbed, they cannot give the other person the attention they deserve. Sounds like you feel this way as well. Maybe I did not interpret your comment correctly.

Too much superstar ego for my liking and too much hype from the entertainment media that makes the famous look and sound like heroes of sex and passion. I had enough of all that silly stuff in my twenties.
