Day 11: A song that mentions a plane

It's buried in the step change at the end, when the music bed switches, and the whole tenor of the song goes from antagonistic to anguished before veering back again. I set the clip ahead to that part, first because it's a 5 minute song and second because some of the language is pretty problematic. Reminder, this album came out in 2002, less than a year after the attack on the World Trade Center.

With more pain inside of my brain, than the eyes of a little girl
Inside of a plane aimed at the World Trade
Standin' on Ronnie's grave, screamin' at the sky
'Til clouds gather; it's Clyde Mathers and Bonnie Jade
And that's pretty much the gist of it
Parents are pissed, but the kids love it
Nine millimeter heaters stashed in two-seaters with meat cleavers

I don't blame you, I wouldn't let Hailie listen to me neither

Day 12: A one hit wonder

Yes, it's a cover. And yes, some of our Aussie friends might come and scold me for not knowing something else that got airplay. But here, in the US, this was her only real cup of tea, and about the only thing that comes up on the first few pages of a YouTube search under her name. I own this fucking record and I couldn't for the life of me tell you the other tracks on it!

This is how I know you're not Australian

My 80s college DJing days require me to dispute this selection. Not only does Berlin have more than one hit, I would opine that this isnt their best song (No More Words). Just all their music didn't make it into a Tom Cruise movie soundtrack.*

*there may be some leftover bitterness from you stealing my truck song that motivated me to point this out. ๐Ÿคฃ
I stand corrected, โ€œNo More Wordsโ€ briefly snuck on to the US Top 40 at #23.

True confession: Never heard it and itโ€™s the only other Berlin tune to enter the Top 40 but facts is facts so next time youโ€™re in Scranton perving on trucks have a banana. ๐Ÿ˜

He may have had more but this is the only one Iโ€™ll ever remember. ๐Ÿ™‚

No rickrolling here, going straight to the man.
I know he had other songs that were kind of popular but unironically, this one slaps and it's his best imo.

I'm American (shudder) and I will not take this Natalie Imbruglia slander!!! ๐Ÿ˜œ My discman had her CD in it at least once a day in sixth grade! It was different album but nevertheless!

They also have a song called The Metro which was very popular and unmistakably 80s.

Day 10: A song that references a truck

She tortures taxi drivers just for fun
She likes to read their lips
Says, "Toro, toro, taxi, see ya tomorrow, my son"
I swear, she let a big truck grease her hip

For a hot minute I thought you were trying to rile us up by telling us this was a one hit wonder ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
