Day 12: One Hit Wonders

How do you get a one hit wonder category covered with the Beatles? Here goes, Tommy Quickly was managed by Brian Epstein who also managed the Beatles. He was given ample opportunity and exposure to make it big, he toured with the Beatles, had a band built around him, and even had a song written for him by the Beatles. That song, Tip of My Tongue, flopped. So were his next three singles. Eventually his fifth single hit and spent 8 weeks in the Top 40. And that was it. He retired not long after this and never produced another hit.

Not too much of a stretch, but honestly most other people the Beatles wrote songs for were not at all one hit wonders.

Take My Breath Away - Berlin

My 80s college DJing days require me to dispute this selection. Not only does Berlin have more than one hit, I would opine that this isnt their best song (No More Words). Just all their music didn't make it into a Tom Cruise movie soundtrack.*

*there may be some leftover bitterness from you stealing my truck song that motivated me to point this out. ๐Ÿคฃ

I did grow up in the 70s/80s and I can honestly say I've never heard of that artist and I never heard that song before today.
Seriously? I thought for sure everyone had heard that one. The crowd I ran with played it like an anthem. It was on the local rock station constantly. My bad bro.. I really thought people everywhere was tortured by it just as much as I was ๐Ÿคท
