Hey,

I've had my story series - 'April - From Teen To Street Hooker' - up for the best part of a year and then the 'powers that be' here decide to pull them down for nothing that I can see is obvious.

IF any rules have changed over that year, and goalposts changed, then doesn't that affect our art...our writing? Isn't everything goin' to be subjugated to these factors? Is anyone's story series safe?

..and...I can't resend them back.

I had some stories taken down once. I think Laurel yanks them without really examining them, if there's a complaint.

I PMd her and explained there was nothing wrong, and she put them back up.

Yes. I've had one removed on account of a complaint. I didn't fight it. One has to pick their battles.

To echo recent comments elsewhere in the forums, management is now much more stringent about underage content. Things are going on in the world in general that seek to eliminate erotica (entirely, in my opinion), and the camel's nose in the tent is policing for anything discussing under-18 persons in proximity to erotic matter.

As noted, you should have been sent some sort of notice as to why. If somebody complained about under18, that would’ve been enough.

How to mend it? To start off with, take a really good look (or, better yet, get somebody else to give it a. Look with different eyes) to see what might have been the problem. If found, change it and resubmit. You might also wish to add something which in context makes it impossible for the characters to be understood age, like them being third-year university students or being police officers. You could also add a statement up front as an introduction that every is 18+, although that is of limited utility.

Last point. When you resubmit, put a note saying all are 18+ in the box at the bottom of the submission page, including those parts of your story proving that. Such a note is often effective.

I had one story rejected for the same reason that had been on the site for 20 years. I think it's hardly likely that Laurel has time to review older stores. What I believe is that some hypersensitive reader reported the story.

It's a simple fix. Just find anything that could remotely connect an underage character with some sexual act and rewrite that part of the story. Then resubmit it along with a note to Laurel that you corrected the problem.

I've had things sent back for under age, that weren't, simply because it wasn't obvious enough. If you can't convince her to put it back, it's not the end of the world, there are other places it can go. I don't solely rely on Lit alone to get my stuff out there. This is the only erotica site where sex starts at 18.

You can only edit a posted story. If they've been taken down, you need to submit it as new.

Once you’ve made the suggested fixes, you may put the newly edited story text into the same submission form as before, then resubmit the story by clicking the Preview&Publish button, then clicking the blue Submit for Publication button, just as you did the first time. There is no need to start a new form or rename the submission in any way.

I had a story about a celebrity that sat on the site for several years, then got pulled. I asked Laurel why and it turned out she thought there was too much reluctance by the celebrity. Fine. I re-edited it and resubmitted. No problem.

The "other" version is available on other sites.

I'm taking a wild guess here: somebody assumed it was autobiographical? Even if true, that is not a reason to pull a submission. When I write something that is sort of a - memoir? - I put it in Reviews and Essays. It's my way of saying: this is as true as I can remember it. I've got quite a number of those, and no one has ever challenged one.
