Two of the best comments I've gotten are on my story Another Man's Trophy Wife in LW.

"Have read a bunch of stories. Read a few that I thought were pretty well written, but "Big-Cane-Sugar" (giggle) is an authentic story-teller, and that's what a good writer does: tells stories. Good opening. Nice flow to peak. Great ending."

That felt really, really good. But the best comment I've ever received concluded with:

"I can't help but think this was an actual occurrence."

Damn, I felt Sarah was crashing harder than Samantha.

New comment on Love is a Place part 2, which itself is pleasing as it's 15 months old now, and it's lovely when new readers find older stories. But more than that I love how this comment is the opposite of the norm: Samantha is neurodivergent and a very atypical romantic character. The vast majority of comments focus on her and the challenges she faces; very few acknowledge how hard things are for Sarah, a comparatively ordinary woman. It's wonderful to see some readers recognise the struggles Sarah faces in loving somebody like Samantha.

"Nice Nude Day contest story! I loved the incorporation of the music, with all of its detail. Very well thought and written. I have traveled overseas with a choir to an international competition on a couple occasions. Your descriptions of the experience, including the rehearsal and prep, are pretty accurate. I didn’t experience the sex on my trips! But those portions were excellent, too! Well done."

I can't respond directly to them, but in case they are ever reading here:
a) there is a reason why the descriptions of the experience were fairly accurate.
b) it's okay that the sex didn't happen on your trip. In general terms, it's the difference between fiction and non-fiction. I do have a stranger-than-fiction story from a), but I won't share that one

I just looked at your profile after you left the very kind comment on my story yesterday and I’m glad that I did. I started in the order you recommended and this is fantastic! The dialogue between the friends is really realistic and engaging. I can see where the see/touch/made progression is going and that’s think that’s a really nice / clever idea for a trilogy of short stories.

And on Eve & Lucy, from another new writer @BeneathHerBraid (who is doing herself a disservice):

Wow! Reading this made me feel two things at once — wildly inspired and slightly despairing. Because damn, you can write. The way you slip between humour, eroticism, emotional depth, and inner monologue so fluidly — it’s just masterful. Amanda’s voice is so alive I swear I could hear her in my head, and that audition scene? Hilarious, brave, sharp. And then the shift into tenderness with Carrie — it was hot, yes, but also vulnerable and real. You wrote sex with feeling and narrative purpose, which is so hard!


Reading this makes me feel like I’m playing with finger paints while you’re working in oils and light. Thank you for setting the bar higher — and for reminding me why I love stories like this. Can’t wait to get into the rest of it!

I've received some really nice comments on my new story, Vocational Awe! I was a little worried about trying to break into the Lesbian Sex category but so far, so good.

The comment that made me smile the most was from @Eosphorus ...

There is so much to love about this I don’t know where to begin. To start, I’d like to echo Actingup by saying that the paragraph defending the mission of public libraries was my favorite also. It’s an issue I care deeply about.

I love the little bits of humor/satire you sprinkle in. “Flat Earth Science,” for example and your unique restaurant concepts. I also respect the way every subplot was weaved together into a happy, believable ending. I always finish your stories feeling smarter and uplifted. I also always learn something new.

"The Beth's." A power pop band.... really???

I love the Beth's, and have seen them live on numerous occasions...

Power Pop, is not a description that fits....

Alternative, folky, Indie filled with cleverly worded rich intriguing lyrics...
