It is looking that way. This will also include the UK too when the legislation here comes into force on Friday. It has already started happening on some sites.

It depends on Lit. But you're right.

Adult websites here will be required to have proper age verification, rather than just 'click here to confirm you're over 18' buttons. Sites which don't risk being blocked in the UK. I believe the rest of the EU is implementing something similar.

The recent changes to the policy on nude pics on Lit, although presented to us as changes made by feedback and popular demand by users, were probably intended to help the site avoid similar content restrictions in the US. That suggests to me that Lit doesn't want to implement the kind of age verification the UK wants - which doesn't surprise me, because it's probably a lot of effort and expense to put those systems in place.

It means that UK users may find that Lit is blocked on Friday. (No Politics Board. How will I ever cope?) But that's arguably less of a problem for us than if Lit had implemented a tortuous age verification system which no one wanted to use. Our Lit accounts will still work. We won't be locked out of them.
