I'm going shopping for Poodle Apples in a little while.


Poodles love apples.

One of my most cherished memories from our time living in Germany was driving through the Taunus mountains and finding a little apple orchard with a picknick table in this little area. The Germans had no fences, just hedge rows where we lived and maybe an electric fence for the poodles. You could walk across the farms and the farmers would just waive.

My son was maybe 2, and we grabbed some apples on the ground and walked across the street to look at said poodles. They of course knew the deal and the whole herd came cruising up! Several trips back and forth and some whinnying as we left! Need to look for those pics…

Momma canceled on me yesterday as she didn’t have a good night. Try again today for our lunch date then off to see my uncle who had a stroke and is in a new assisted living facility. Sucks watching family get old.

With the cancelation yesterday, recruited youngest and did a ton of yard work. Cleaned out a shed that was long overdue, found missing tools and bit the bullet and threw away stuff my hoarding ass has kept around. YOU know I’m gonna need something in couple a days I just chucked! Still haven’t managed to get that garage done though…

Today's first task is the lawn weeds need mowing. Being as all those weed flowers are the sexual organs of plants, I'm taking it as a rude gesture that they're flashing them at me!

This is all good advice, Noor! I always told my patients to medicate when the oain is on the way up. If you catch it when it's at a 6, it's MUCH easier and better for you than trying to medicate when you're at 11.

First knee replacement I chased the pain the entire time b/c the transitional care doctor dropped one of the pain meds in half. That was the one controlling the itching, nausea, and vomiting that the "heavy lifting" pain med caused.

I talked to her tonight (Thursday) and she sounds great, said she feels good and is probably going home Monday....

Same - I typically have e types of experiences with pain meds:
1) High so I don't care I'm in the same amount of pain (until they wear off)
2) So doped I'm functionally unconscious - but also not in pain
3) allergic reaction

Going a little slow today before work. Fed my cat!- now off to feed the neighbors cats.

If we didn't know you, this would sound like a coded message or very different kind of story... you know, being Lit and all.

The cooler weather has been nice. I’ve always loved warmer weather but now that I am old I have less tolerance for it.

Today was only 67. Monday was 101.

Have never been a bit sun and warm temp person but the older I get the less tolerant I am, too. My body loves 72-74F... but for out and about? Low 60s and lots of available shade.

Ugh! My director would always basically print out what I sent to her as my review.

Our review process shifted to that model about 15-20 years ago. There's a required "Self-Evaluation" that the employee has to fill out. Same questions and criteria as the manager's review. So other than the manager seasoning the Self-Eval with comments from co-workers, what you write is what you get - unless your manager doesn't like you.

Agreed. Current manager says he's available when we need him. Kind of true - he's busy and away a lot. But otherwise no feedback from him until review time.

Previous manager had monthly check-in meetings. In the 3 years this phoned it in, never did we ever talk work at those meetings. It was always talk of his new house he had built, or his pool, or his dog... or he'd ask me what I last baked. Very glad he's gone.

Poor management leaves issues or concerns to the annual review like it’s an excuse to not give a better review. When I was supervising, I always addressed issues or concerns immediately and asked “how can I help”?

Of course upper management didn’t like my way so I became more the in house “expert “ without any support staff. Stupid management.

Sounds "on brand" for the type of management I've mostly experienced so far. Because the good managers that really help you grow as an employee? They don't stay managers for long. At least not where I work - maybe at their new job??

Good morning all. Today I am off pain meds and doing stretches for my back and glutes (tendons). So far it’s good. I may need PT for my knees as there is pain when I do squats. I see the doctor in a few weeks.
