Day 24: A song from the 90s with color in the title or lyrics.

I remember watching this live years ago, and after what had happened with Kurt a few months after Nirvana recorded their Unplugged session, thinking that there was no way Layne Staley was going to make his next birthday. And he made it a few more, but he was sadly, so clearly not himself in this performance of a Cantrell gem from early in their career. But it's still so haunting performed live.

Roses in a vase of white
Bloodied by the thorns beside the leaves
That fall because my hand is pulling them hard as I can

You were always so far away
I know that pain
And I won't run away like I used to do

Pictures in a box at home
Yellowing and green with mold
So I can barely see your face
Wonder how that color taste

Jubilee Street

The problem was
She had a little black book
And my name was written on every page
Well a girl’s got to make ends meet
Even down on Jubilee Street

+7?
Is that for the week or are you just giving yourself extra points because she's extra LGBTQ?
As a straight cis woman I wouldn't be qualified to decide if someone's extra LGBTQ but she is extra awesome. I calculated 7 because I had the color blue yesterday plus a trans singer so I think I got two points but I could be wrong. My brain has been slightly melted this month.

Day 26: A 10s song with a color in the title or lyrics

I think I missed a day. On the road for work. I picked power pop to be my musical style for all of decades week. But I’m racking my brain to think of a song that is purple or by a queer artist in a 2010s…

This is a tough trifecta. Impossible.

So I’m referring to one of the best pop bands of all time. The 2011 album was a great comeback with lots of throwback 80s sounds.
