Wit & Nipples 🍒

I have been. Barcelona is one of the best cities in the world. Parc Guell is an amazing park, lots of fun streets, the architecture, food, yes pretty ladies, its a lovely time.
Madrid was cool but I preferred Barcelona.
I also ran with the bulls in Pamplona but thats a different story haha!
Amazing! It does sound lovely. I'm reading some Lorca at the moment, and he paints a very vivid picture. Would love to experience it.

Thanks, there are a few things that trip me up, but a lot of it's pretty logical. Once it clicks it stays for good, i find. Fascinating how much of an overlap with english there is, but then it diverges at points quite strongly.

I've never tried learning another language before, so it has been a lot of fun. Think i need a goal to help me keep going though.
Totally get that 😍 Spanish is at least a satisfying language to learn, I struggled with German, loved French! ( I know we have German speakers here, sorryyyy, it just sounds too guttural 🥺 )
Spanish does have a lot of crossover with English, especially with all its Latin-based words. What’s funny is that Spanish has way more words that look like English because of shared Latin roots, but English hasn’t borrowed nearly as much back. So you get these little “aha” moments, but not always the other way around!

I know about 200 words in German. Its yeah...very foreign sounding? That said, it is the basis for so much English so...

Ach, so schlimm ist das gar nicht. Du musst die Wörter nur nicht wie Befehle rausschreien. 😉

But yes, i like Italien more for the melody.

Without its Germanic routes, as English speakers we literally wouldn’t have everyday structure and core vocabulary. Without French and Latin we would also have veryyy minimal formal, academic and abstract vocabulary. It’s just more evidence that English has built itself by borrowing from everyone but its own roots. 🤣🤭 Cough.

let’s hope in the latter scenario that the ground magically caves and pulls you inwards so you have an easy escape 🤣

No but seriously, don’t butcher it 😉
if i butchered a recitation of Lorca in front of a lovely spanish girl, i would just jump in front of some bulls!o_O

If you try one of your poems in Thai, you can be a butcher twice and possibly get a bit of meat delivered around the back 🥳

Learning another language when you’re monolingual can be pretty tough!!! Especially if you’re English speaking. (Not assuming you are by the way) but being Latvian ( or Italian or any European language really) means you grow up knowing about and understanding more complex morphological and syntactic structures which in English exist to a lesser extent. And in Spanish the verbs do a wholeeee lotta work! Like..( I’m sorry guys, This is probably really fucking boring to you all but…) In English, we say “I spoke” simple. Right? Kinda. In Spanish, that same verb changes depending on who’s speaking, when, and sometimes even how it’s being said. You have to learn way way way more endings. Also, English has a pretty fixed word order:
subject.
verb.
object.
Whilst languages like Spanish can move words around more because the grammar is built into the word endings. So you’re not just learning vocab, you’re learning a whole new system! Kudos to you my friend, it’s no easy feat!

I listen as @SpicyBean99 is talking about languages that hard to learn. 😘

She leans over the desk, elbows pressing together just enough to draw the eye downward, her button-up shirt parting slightly with the motion.

“Don’t even get me started on agglutinative languages like Turkish, for example, where entire sentences are packed into one word… that would be a pain to learn. And let’s not forget tonal languages such as Mandarin in which the word “ma” can mean entirely different things, all depending ones tone.”

She tilts her head, gaze locked on his.

“Take Hungarian,” she murmurs. “Again, agglutinative, like Turkish. You start with something simple, like nyal, which means ‘to lick’.”

With one fluid motion, she lifts her leg onto the table and spreads her thighs, she isn’t wearing any panties.

“Nyalogatnálak. Which means, I would keep licking you slowly. All in one word.”

She leans in slightly.

“But if you’d prefer… I can show you what it feels like when I do the licking.”

Educative and seductive.... my language classes were never like this
