By no rationale are the Mexicans (I'm assuming we've collectively agreed that we genuinely don't care what Spanish speaking and or brown skinned nation they come from? We're just short handing?) slaves. They simply are not. We can make very, very strong arguments that they are victimes. They absolutely are victims to varying degrees.

Comparing it to African slavery is absurd though. Not just the how Africans were brought to this nation but the intentional destruction of family and culture. I'm an atheist and just via proximity Christians do the most damage to me so I have a special place in my "Fuck you list" for them but still. The way Christianity/Catholism was forced on the Natives isn't anything like what was done to Africans. Also given we seem able to rationalize that Mexicans are distinct from Native Americans to varying degrees we can't really call on that.

Just economics yeah we need them at least for the time being.
