🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

1) I don't understand the hate for burpees. I mean they are hard for sure, but I do feel like they get picked on disproportionately to similar shitty exercises.
2) I do minute on/minute off stuff even in my distance training. I have a very love hate relationship with it. 😂
I love burpees.
I’ve moved away from bodybuilding type training splits, that focus on isolation type exercises.
I’ve been doing full body training everyday with functional movement patterns and high rep body weight exercises for the last few months. As a minimum I’m doing pull ups, dips, ring push ups and sled pushes daily. Then I’ll mix my training up with extras based on how sore I am from the morning before.

I have a mad little finisher involving burpees. Very simple, one pull up then drop straight into a burpee and repeat. Continue for as many reps as possible with no rest. It wrecks ya pretty quick. Shout out to box jumps and farmer carries too!

Keep investing in your health everyone. We don’t stop moving cos we get old, we get old cos we stop moving 🙌🏼

Great mindset to have. I wish so many others had this same mentality.
Our modern society has hypnotised us to a life of comfort. We chase cheap dopamine that requires zero effort. Chasing dopamine through adversity and discomfort is the key, for me anyway.

I feel ya and I’m disappointed that most of our so called medical experts aren’t having the hard conversations, regarding diet and movement, with people
I try not to preach to anyone, I like to share my own personal experiences and growth through daily training and a healthy routine, hoping to send ripples out and inspire.

However, at the end of the day we all end up as dust, just be humble and kind is my mantra…My own personal non negotiable is to elevate my heart rate and do something physically hard every morning. Sets me up for my entire day.

Hope everyone is smiling more often than not!

Good morning and Happy Serenity Sunday!

Also Happy Father’s Day! On Sundays this month, for the June challenge, it’s journaling day. (If you want to- this is not required :)) I learned last week that this is not a favorite activity for some, and no worries, you get a pass!

But, if you do want to journal, today’s entry is about Dads. Now, the word Dad can be defined in many ways to different people. You use it how you want— Maybe you want to journal about your dad, or being a dad, or acting as a dad to someone or someone stepping in to act as one for you…

You can share or not share. This is just an optional mental activity.

I hope that you all have a nice day:)

📣 Sidenote: I’m taking a break from the next two weeks of the challenge. I will pick them back up later in the summer unless someone else feels strongly about taking over the next two weeks now. Otherwise stay tuned for the rest of the challenge in a few weeks.

This speaks to me today. I didn’t know if I was going to post this in Highlights and Bombshells or here, but I think that it fits better here because I’m taking a break from making the rest of the challenge calendar. I will pick it back up later because I do like making it and trying to complete the different activities, but I want to make sure it remains “can” and not a “should”. So, today I’m feeling like the 6th circle from the left. And that’s ok - at least I know that’s what I’d tell a friend and I would genuinely mean it, so that’s what I’m telling myself.

Have a good day, All. 🩷

Still at the gym 3 days a week minimum. After so many years, I started using Creatine and my god, I can lift so many more reps on my 4 sets. Zeroing in on 200lb on my bench press... aiming for 180lb in the next 2 months or so. Can't wait!

Started back to my swimming routine last night. Surprisingly, I still got it. 20 laps in an Olympic size pool.

Last year I was doing them every other day.

Good Morning, Sweaters!
I hope that your summer is going well so far. How’s your morale? It’s Sunday and I’m doing a deep clean of the house today along with some other errands. So far, the cooktop of the stove is done. That takes some persistence and a 💪🏼 workout. That’s what I’m telling myself, at least.

While I’m cleaning, sometimes I listen to music or an audio book. Other times, my mind plays through things that have been bothering me or that I’m trying to figure out. I find it sort of therapeutic to scrub away stains or mop up messes when I’m perseverating on something that I don’t think is fair, or I’m upset about. If I’m especially worked up, at least my house is nice and sparkly afterwards.

What do you do to manage stress or when you’re stuck on repeat and you can’t get your mind off of something that’s bothering you?

I’m heading out for a nice long walk- hopefully the weather won’t be too terribly hot. Be safe, Everybody!

Oh, I found this poem and I thought I’d share it here. It made me think of this thread. I hope it resonates with someone.

My morale is pretty good, but it's also a bit put off by the constant feels like 40+. It's too damn humid and I swear it starts earlier each year (almost like climate change is a real thing).

I don't have anything earth shattering that people haven't read or heard before. I try to force myself to do the things that I know will help even though I don't want to do them. Some form of movement, breath work, listen to music, maybe doodle for ten minutes if movement isn't an option, try not to judge the feeling that thing is giving me too much, all the stuff you're taught and nothing super exciting or new.

Oh, and complaint about the heat like I'm an 74 year man who moved to Florida.

I’m 58 and have back problems (spinal stenosis), but varying my workout has really helped. Especially after a long day of yardwork on Saturday.

20 minutes on the elliptical, then 20 on the rowing machine, using several different arm angles and then 20 minutes on the spinning bike.

We don’t have AC, although we live in the northeast, but we do have a pool and we get a lot of use out of it in the summer.

I never really post here, only seems to be when sitting outside the gym thinking going home would be better yet I know I would feel bad for the rest of the day. So let me stop procrastinating and go, btw it´s also chilly outside so this is superhuman effort.

Welcome 🩷

I started the first version of this thread years ago. I have been through so many ups and downs. Sometimes I have been in super shape and been able to be motivational and upbeat and other times, like now, I feel like I’ve had to lean on others. It’s ok to ebb and flow, and I think that is a realistic expectation.

I’m glad you are here in whatever place you are in your wellness journey.

What's everyone been up to lately? I'm finally feeling more settled in my new surroundings and getting back into being active for myself.

Last weekend I did a 6 mile hike to a waterfall. It was on incline on the way there and downhill the way back. It was so beautiful! After that though I realized how tight my body is lol.

Yesterday I took a hot yoga class and it felt so good. I've been under so much stress these last few months and it felt amazing to sweat, and create space through the tension I've been carrying.

My body is craving more so that's a good sign! I've notice I'm adjusting to the altitude change now so that's relieving.

I can't wait to get my workout stuff out of storage when we move into our house next month. I never thought I'd say I miss my foam rollers. 🤣

Happy sweating!

Hi @birdy 🩷 I’m so glad you’re getting settled in after your big move.

I’m really noticing how much longer it takes me to work out the kinks after a long walk, or how there are spots that didn’t used to be sore that are now sore for the first time. That’s humbling!

Hikes to a waterfall sound lovely. What a nice motivator!

I’ve heard good and bad things about hot yoga. I tend to like it and I’m glad you did too. I was more flexible than I thought I’d be when I was in the hot yoga class.

What a great way to create space and release some tension. So glad you have that outlet.

Wow that’s dedication! 😂
Happy sweating!
Thanks so much for checking in!

I've noticed its helping to release restrictions that have developed around my tailbone, from when it broke in February. My hips can move again.. It's glorious!

Wow that’s dedication! 😂
I'm sure my opinion will change the moment I have it in hand. 😂

Welcome back to the fit challenge thread @birdy.

Still summer hiking and swimming at our pool.
