I think I see what you're talking about. Some links that were embedded, where the image actually appeared in the post, are now just links. Seems to be mainly from tumblr. In another thread that I follow, attached pics that the poster got from the internet are now gone and replaced with a "View Attachment #Whatever" link that takes you to a "Page Not Found" message. But not for all the pics taken from the internet. And I don't recall the ones that are now gone being more nude than ones still there. It's so weird.

Yeah it's gonna take some adjusting too. A lot of pic threads have become link threads which is fair enough I suppose. I just wished there'd been more clarity from the site owners to the mods at least and then passed to us.

To me, one of the many annoying aspects of this is that the change was supposed to be about nudity. But there was no nudity in the cute and funny memes and pics that you were posting. It's like they've just decided that tumblr equals nudity, so anything from tumblr can only be a link. And, as far as I know, they've still never given their definition of nudity to those of us creating original photos. I know it's their site and their money and their decision, but just give us the guidelines so that we can understand and follow them.

Judging from JaF0's post in 2023 the plan was always to ban all pictures from the site to turn it into a text only site.

I don't think I've ever seen you break the rules. You share your own pics. The ones of yourself are arty and tasteful too.

I do promise that if we get specific instructions that I will post about it. To date, we only have Manu’s announcement as well.

I don’t spend a lot of time scrolling through images here unless I get pulled into a thread based on reports. But I am familiar with your posts and SaltFountain’s and I’m shocked to see you two lose the ability to attach images.

@RosewoodTulip and @Saltfountain, have you both lost the ability to attach images, meaning that you no longer have the “Attach files” button as an option at the bottom left of your reply window? Or are you using the “Insert image” button at the top of the window and, instead of embedding the photo from your link, it’s just pasting the link itself into the message? I think this second situation is happening to almost everyone. It appears that any link from tumblr or giphy is automatically being displayed as a link only. I’m sure it’s happening with images from other sites as well. My past understanding of losing photo posting privileges was that the “Attach files” button was removed from the reply window. Just trying to clarify what is happening to people.

ETA: I just tried to use the “Insert Image” button to insert a non-nude image from imgbb and got an error message that “Image cannot be loaded from the passed link”. So it won’t even convert it to posting just the link. It doesn’t even recognize the link as valid anymore.

Tbh this is just how I was taught to do it. Linking my own pics and sharing them from other sites. I honestly don't have a clue.
So if I can still share my nonsense then that's good but honestly I'm still half expecting everything to shut down.

And I do think they are stricter about the rules with photos that are attached, since they are uploaded to their server. Not sure if that happens when an image link is embedded. So when attaching an image, definitely avoid nudity. I also wouldn’t attach photos that you haven’t taken yourself because of the copyright issues. I’m not sure how they feel about non-photo images like the one you just shared.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually decide that even a poster’s original (non-nude) images have to be linked.

I'm having a break - possibly forever - from posting myself on Lit.

It's hard to know where exactly the lines are really. Does pics not of yourself include memes too? Or what about art work?
If I hide things behind a link is it more acceptable or does the "how" not matter.

Meh... I often get follows from people pushing porn sites and I always report/block them. Seriously if I wanted to look at zeppelin boobs or a sweaty minge, I would ask.

Anyways... I just heard of two female pilots chatting at work and they decided that 'cockpit' was the wrong word. Clitpit sounded more appropriate. It would also be safe from hijackers because how would they ever find it?
