Feedback on new policy announcement.

I'm all in favour of the new policy should it be enforced.

I don't agree with the reasons given for the change but I can see others reasons why it should be enforced.

I think that's the thing.

No one actually believes the reasons given, and if there are still camgirl adverts on the login page, then the stated reasons will be shown to be bullshit.

If the given reasons are the actual ones, I'll expect to see more changes

Getting rid of the threads like mine and the ones that just scrape the Web for images will save them shit loads
That's a legitimate reason, another being moderating entire threads of stolen, posted and reposted nudes is probably very time consuming and a thread of nudes offers little benefit.

Absolutely. And if they were given as reasons I expect that people would have accepted it quicker

Your thread is original content, though. Threads like yours and those in visual arts and AmPics (minus catfish) are an entirely different animal than the ones that are literally just image after image from the web.

I agree that the forum is only a small feature of Literotica, and even though it's indispensable for those who seek guidance, the site could shut it down without suffering any significant drawback.
On the other hand, illustrated stories ARE a major feature that brings a lot of readers. I think that the least the website owes to all the authors of that category, such as @silkstockingslover, who brought a lot of popularity to such stories and attracted plenty of readers, is some fair treatment and a way to keep their work as it is. This mute shutdown is a bullshit way to treat your authors.

Thinking about each part of Lit as separate entities and evaluating the parts individually seems rather futile to me.

Even though the Forum doesn't bring in readers (i.e. revenue) directly, it is still a part of what makes Lit attractive to authors. And authors are the real assets of Lit.

If you restricts or close down the parts that make it fun to hang around Lit, some authors will move elsewhere and you will have fewer/less good stories.

It doesn't matter if particular threads contribute to discussions or are just silly games or even just images. There are people who appreciate them - and these people write the stories that generate your income.

But there's value to your threads. They are filled with creative and original content created by actual Litsters.
I didn't mean to imply there isn't.

My point was that purely on a cost / return basis my threads are costly to the site, just like any other pic heavy threads, and bring in no direct revenue.

I'd hate to lose the threads altogether, especially as the main one is something of a rarity in that people who show skin and don't can both participate on an equal footing, but I guess I understand why the site owners may hate my threads.

On a hosting cost level, it's no different to the porn pics scraped off the web.

On a creative level, there's a big difference.

I haven't seen @Saltfountain work but your the 2nd to comment on originality. Those should be excluded from the ban.
But the ban is about nude images.

It makes it a much easier policy to police, with fairer judgements. No one can argue the extent of the originality...

I'm not saying I like the change. I'm not saying I believe the reasons given.

But I understand it.

Lit has given me, like many others, a place where I have been able to grow creatively, whilst also helping others to grow.

I know of no other place where my little creative niche could have existed, let alone formed into a little community.

I'll always be glad I found these forums, and the support people like @ToPleaseHim gave me as I had yet another neuro-spicy meltdown.

I hope this isn't the end, but if it is I hold no malice or ill will to the site owners. Their thing is erotic fiction. I've been lucky to find a little corner of a site not geared towards visual art that has hosted my visual art.

I've paid precisely £0 (that handily converts to $0 for you Americans 😉) directly towards this site. Maybe I've contributed indirectly. Who knows. But Laurel & Manu pay the bills, so they get to do what they want, ultimately.

I'm not one who particularly enjoys the scraped pics threads, or really understands why they're there, but these posts made me stop and think earlier...

I feel this. Had a weird emotional morning about my body and celebrating other's beauty makes me feel better. 💕

This thread always helps me feel better when I'm having an argument with the mirror

Now I'm by no means saying all these threads serve that purpose, nor that the site has an obligation to help people who struggle with body image (they don't, it doesn't) but it's a lovely example of the law of unintended consequences.

Lit has provided a place of safety for a lot of people to explore their sexuality, and their bodies. For some, it's been a place to come to terms with their bodies and find acceptance where they thought none existed.

When the details of the changes are published, I just hope that not all the good gets thrown out with (and there is unquestionably a lot) the bad.

If cost is the main issue, then I would think that only posting links for photos should be okay, as then images wouldn't be hosted here.
If cost was the main issue, they could have said that and people would, I think, by and large have understood.

Having said it's due to not wanting to have users embarrassed with nudes appearing on their screen then they can't row back and say it's cost.
