Tariffs announced on Canada, China, & Mexico goods

Treasury Secretary Bessent says to not expect trade deals within 90 days

"But I think if we follow the process, we could have substantial clarity on those 14 away from China in terms of agreements in principle. And then once we reach a level that we've agreed on and they've agreed to lower their tariffs, lower their non tariff barriers, currency manipulation, and subsidies of industry and labor, then I think we can move forward," he continued.

Translation: He’s a Trumpian suck up who spouts buzzwords but doesn’t know what the fuck is going on in the Clown Show Administration. 😆

Also, all original American NHL hockey teams will win the stanley cup and all Canadian teams will be demoted to the UFC

I wish nobody was dumb enough to believe this, but I’m sure there are MAGA sheep who are dumb enough.

  • Trump tariffs are a massive new tax on you, the American consumer
  • Tariff revenue will not be enough to make more income tax cuts
  • Projected tariff revenue doesn’t even come close to offsetting the cost of extending the previous tax cuts for the rich
  • The Republican budget proposal and Trump’s random rants point toward more record-setting deficits (Donnie is the King of Deficits)
  • High tariffs may create “winners” in select industries, but the overall economy will shrink. That is always the impact of protectionist tariffs.
Don’t be an economically illiterate MAGA sheep.

Trump’s new tax on American consumers brought in about $8 billion in April

Tariffs were $9 billion in March and $17 billion in April, so Trump’s new tariff impact was about $8 billion.

Don’t get overly excited by the revenue inflow because for April it is less than 1/4 of the interest on the national debt in one month.

It will be interesting to see how tariff revenue changes month to month. Declining imports will tend to reduce it, as will the ongoing negotiations with other nations to cut tariffs. Or maybe consumers will continue to buy foreign products regardless. Nobody knows yet.

To no one's surprise...

The first boats carrying Chinese goods with 145% tariffs are arriving in LA. They’re half-full. Expect shortages soon

That means, in a matter of weeks, consumers will face higher prices and shortages of certain items.

Imports from China have fallen dramatically since Trump imposed steep tariffs – particularly since last month, when the tit-for-tat trade war sent the tariff on most Chinese goods up to 145%.

“This week, we’re down about 35% compared to the same time last year, and these cargo ships coming in are the first ones to be attached to the tariffs that were levied against China and other locations last month,” Gene Seroka, executive director of the Port of Los Angeles, told CNN Tuesday. “That’s why the cargo volume is so light.”

Carney tells trump 'Never, never, never,' that 'Canada's not for sale'

trump had tried to persuade him that Canada would be so much better off as a part of America; Carney told him Canada wasn't for sale; trump said 'never say never." So Carney look into the cameras and said it 3 times.

During the same meeting with Carney, trump suddenly announced that the houthis had told him they didn't want to fight anymore and that trump believed them and that's what mattered... leaving Israel gobsmacked

During a question-and-answer session with reporters in the Oval Office with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump said, "The Houthis have announced that they are not, or they announced to us at least, that they don't want to fight anymore... but, more importantly, we will take their word."
Trump continued, "They say they will not be blowing up ships anymore and that's what the purpose of what we were doing... so that's just news we just found out about that."
Amit Segal, who is described as "one of Israel top political commentators that is very close to [Israel's prime minister]" posted to social media, "Trump’s announcement that the US will stop attacking the Houthis is a resounding message to the entire region: attack Israel, just leave us Americans alone. If I were Iranian, that’s how I’d interpret it."

Yeah, I hadn’t seen the Israeli reaction, but I had been hearing grumblings about there being no mention of Israel in the Houthi or Trump announcements.

It sure sounds like DonOld is content with the shipping lanes being open, and with Israel alone contending with the new reality as the U.S. disengages from the region. This could get very interesting very quickly…

😳

We. Told. Them. So.

Another less on for the USA's former allies. The USA ain't gonna support you no more, no more, no more.....

The world is quickly becoming less stable.

And to the everlasting shame of the United States (DonOld’s administration).

It’s even MOAR shameful because the United States is the ONLY country in NATO that EVER invoked Article 5 (G.W. Bush’s administration).

An utter betrayal of everything the United States is supposed to represent. Not surprising from “DonOld the betrayer”.

This is Derpy-level wrong.

republican ceo placing new tariff stickers on his price tags, helping customers understand why there's a $300 price difference on the same bike from one rack to the one next to it—says it has been a problem for his staff to explain to confused customers. The price difference reflects the added 10% tariff costs now in place.

The Trump Admin went ballistic when Amazon even hinted at displaying the tariff as an element of an item's price. Amazon backed down.
