Speaking of herbs and growing things.
Today’s project:
About 12 gallons of spaghetti sauce, complete with a pound of garlic, a roux made from the olive oil I sautéed said garlic in, some bay, at least 5 pounds of a mixture of pork, beef, bear, and Johnsonville Italian sausage, a shit-ton of garden tomatoes and shredded zucchini, and an almost unholy amount of oregano and dried anise.
Oh, and a good 3 or so pounds of sautéed wild shaggy mane mushrooms I and my family picked off the trails on a trip up to Ontario 😋

I've never heard of putting anise in spaghetti sauce before. Is this because of the bear meat or do you always put that in your sauce regardless of the type of meat? I want to try it.
