Virtual Literotica Convention 2025 Author Challenge Official Support Thread

"Convention Pt. 1: Star of the Show" is now published.

It's in Loving Wives, so as usual, the story is currently rated 1.92. That's due to the haters and of course my subpar writing. But I always enjoy some of their comments, when I set their hair on fire.

Thanks, Freya, Actingup, Bobbiecox2, and Wineandcheese for loaning me your characters. I hope they enjoyed their time with Linda.

But they could share a different type of intimacy. I the cold and dark discussing their innermost fears 'what if I die here tonight or on this trip?' sort of thing!
I'm thinking how nice it would be to get the reader wondering if they are going to 'get down and dirty', only for the conversation to pause and it be the next day and they have to get going!
I have things like that in mind, but reading your post gave me the idea of using the situation to plant the seeds of an upcoming subplot between two characters that will come to a head after the trip.

About my convention story, I originally planned to do it all in four parts, but Part 2 is so much longer than my usual chapters that I've decided to break it all down into smaller parts. I think that could be another part of the problem. It's a "while Tiafell is doing this, his friends are doing that" situation. So I'm going to divide them up, give them their own chapters. I do want to challenge myself, but I may going a little too over and beyond. 😅

The Lit Con 2025 Memento Catalog is now up and crazily it has had 1.2k views in 3 hours and to my mind even stranger four votes averaging 3🌟 (or all 3's or 5,5,1,1 etc).
Now an even crazier 13.3k views and a 3.7/44 🌟. On the views, no idea why so many, but if it's advertising for the challenge then that's great. On the votes not sure why people are doing it. Also one comment which I don't fully understand, but possibly the author is looking to include them in a Lit Con story? Here's hoping and it they do my time throwing together the catalog and more so JWtts time creating the images, will have been worth it!

Should the Con have a support group for the 'Loving Wives' authors/characters?

Or maybe an angry mob of commenters, armed with tiki torches and sporks, invade the Con and we must defend the less "loved" categories of Lit. I hear there are a few fantasy characters around. And the rest of us can arm ourselves with giant dildos and whatever blunt objects we can borrow from the BDSM folks. This idea clearly took a sharp turn away from eroticism, but what happens at LitCon...

It was worth it, if only to help with immersion and worldbuilding for anyone that needs that stuff for their stories. For me, it does help, but it's also one of my creative toxic traits. "Go and write?" No. "Fall down creative rabbit holes, make fictional swag, create book covers for stories I'll never write, etc.?" Yes, please!

On a separate note, I did chuckle at the one comment about it not being a story nor erotic. The temptation to reply, "Bro, if you didn't find this story erotic then maybe you're not trying hard enough. Though, I hear SkyMall has some pretty sexy stuff." But I didn't want to start a thing in your comments.

Congratulations!!!! My views have been low. ☹️

And currently there are 12 stories published for this challenge. Does anyone know if that's good for an author's challenge on Literotica? What's an average number? Just curious.

The two challenges I sponsored last year - WIWAW and Pandemonium - were both first-timers, like the Convention. WIWAW had 53 entries, and Pandemonium had 30. I suspect that two factors that worked in WIWAW's favour were that quite a few were relatively short, and of course we all love talking about ourselves. So Pandemonium is probably more useful for comparison.

There will probably be a surge of new stories near the end of the challenge. But the inherent need to refer to other writers' stories and characters is quite possibly a hurdle.

Great information. Thank you!! I feel better that 12 (so far) is a decent number.

Yes, it is a hurdle and not exactly for the weak of heart! 🤪 I know that writers like to write what they write and having to consider other author's creations can be tricky.

But with that being said, I've heard from writers who said, "it sounds interesting, but not interesting enough for me." And then... "I had an idea and now I'm 6K words into a story for your challenge." So, there's that...

I also just got a private message from someone who said that my challenge has gotten them to finally write something after a LONG time of compiling notes for stories but never going past that point. They even called me their muse, and I am so incredibly touched by that!!

The fact that someone was interested enough to write that very first story makes this challenge a complete success for me!!

I'm already 3.4k words into Part 2 of my story to add to the collection before May 16th.

The elevator doors will open, and the fun continues. So, you'll have at least one more story for Lit Con 2025.

I’ve posted 1.5 stories (the How To only counts as .5) and could do another if I wasn’t already finishing something for Geek day.
However, the story I wrote included characters from stories I like, not other characters who are established as being at the convention.
If I get the time to write another story I’ll use more of the characters already established as being here.

Thanks for using Fatemah! It’s interesting to read others’ take in the same hotel. In my story (under preparation), people are behaving themselves in the public areas a bit more, and there’s a physics convention in the same hotel. But we can cater for the differences using a bit of quantum theory. Also, my main character, who is a cleaner, will probably don some gloves to pick up a wad of tissues from the ballroom floor….

I couldn't see any subpar writing. I enjoyed the story. I think the more a story is tied in with the convention concept the harder it will be to get good ratings as other readers don't know the context.

You might have the head of hotel security tell her to do a good job cleaning the floor of elevator #3 and the 12th floor hallway up to room 1205. It's cumming in Part 2.

And BTW: That's MY subpar writing!

I have recently come up with an explination of the parallel universe theory ... all of the parallel universes are those created* by stories**. It started when the first story teller explained why the sun rose and the rain fell.

*all due deference to anyone who considers that thing revealed to prophets are not stories
**including myths, legends and even history from a partisan perspective!

"The Literotica Multiverse". Oh shit, dare we open that can of worms? Or is it already too late?

Part 2 of my "alternate universe" goes live tomorrow, and Part 3 is... 80% done? We'll add to the madness, why not? 😂

Hi,

Just stopping by with a question.

I’m writing a second Lit-Con story. In it authors who are also characters are important [because of reasons]. I wondered whether I could have a headcount of authorial self-insertions in the Lit-Con stories, only say “yo!” if you are cool with a namecheck (I promise not to let any of my or @Djmac1031’s she-demons peg you, OK?).

I already know:

  1. Me (d’oh!)
  2. @FreyaGersemi (or is that Cynthia?)
  3. @PennyThompson (via my story)
  4. @AlexFourways (no permission on file)
Anyone else?

Haven't really had time to get into this, but I don't mind Ali X- being there.

ETA: On condition you give me a nice pair of shoes/boots.

It's a small spoiler, but I have decided to insert "Bassytian" into my story. (I)He's a take on one of my other characters who will make (my)his debut in Part 3. I'll boldly volunteer. 😅

I'll give stats if interested.

There's a whole cleaning team, under their own management within the hotel structure, who have been worrying about this issue and whether LitCon should have been approved as an activity. For fuck's sake, make sure that your characters use the bins and leave them some good tips, or they'll be shortsheeting your beds.

Feel free. I wrote about Bryan Richardson the dance teacher talking to Ann about her friend and sometimes lover Bryan Richardson the videographer, so there is no reason not to include the author @BryanRichardson

Bryan (not the authors real name)
