I have rarely let myself feel angry. I rationalised it away, forgave, or ignored. But I've learned that anger is a tertiary feeling, it is created by a core emotion like fear or frustration and that knowledge makes it much easier to actual feel the feels. So now I tend to listen to songs that express whatever emotion caused me to feel angry.

Except this song; I can't begin to count the number of times I have belted it out at the top of my lungs, especially in my car There is just something about how the music and my poor singing ability work together to scratch the itch between my shoulder blades.

Quite a few Metallica songs were on my list.

This song packs a ton of anger into 90 seconds. Broadus was a villain in this one. This song is angry at a person and not just in general.

It also has a baseline at the end that would have that whole vampire club from Blade head banging.

Every time we would leave Camp Victory North, Logistics Base Seitz or Forward Operating Base Dreamland… it was some
kinda hardcore to get you in the mood and ready for a mission outside. So much so that I had to have a friend make me a couple of good mix CDs just for that purpose. (Talkin 2004-6 here). I still have em somewhere w all my CDs.

Killing Time, Rollins, Half-Life, Madball, old school UK82 stuff come to mind. But this one was always there to get me ready on those super early mornings.

And I’ll always associate it with those times and places.

Mostly in a good way.

This prompt has been in my head most of the day, and I was kicking around if I wanted to use my second song pass. Yes, yes I do.

Most angry songs are loud, screaming, cathartic, and I love me some good screaming songs. But I also have a lot of love for quiet anger. Quiet, seething venom. Cold rage. And this song, from the Civil Wars, who broke up as a band in the middle of recording their second album, nails that feel.

I need to do better in era week because I want to post 2 songs.. or 6.. so many happy songs!
I'm choosing Mushaboom by Feist, not the 'happiest' of my music but it gives me a sense of hopefulness, an innocent peace. And that, to me, is happiness.

I can't find a good YouTube video of the song, the music video is fun but the audio is awful so have some fun exploring this underrated Canadian and find it on your own
