A Sex Ed Class How To 'Story' shot down

Predictably, a humorous 'how to' in the form of a sex ed class got shot down by Manu and Laurel. I carefully stated that it was a college freshman class, but it does refer to growing up. The last thing I want to do is encourage adults to have sexual feelings about children. I personally have issues with that. But one 'purpose' of this humorous story was to depict the kind of class I wish all young people could have so they can feel comfortable with who they are and what we all do. I guess there is no way to do this. I'm also curious about what can and can't be posted in the forums.

My "Being a Blessing" is a story about two people who meet in a sex ed class and end up being each others' first.

I make it very clear they're adults, though.

Yeah, you just shouldn't do that The rules are fairly clear, and are pinned to the top of this particular forum too!

For clarification and future reference: we do allow characters under the age of 18 in stories. What we don't allow are stories in which characters under the age of 18 are involved in sexual situations. This includes as voyeurs, as the object of a voyeur, masturbation, having sexual thoughts, and so on.

We do allow references to past activity in stories so long as it is not explicit. For example, an adult character referencing his or her history - "I lost my virginity when I was 15" - is fine. Explicit and/or salacious details are not.

You could have a character say something like, "I took a sex ed class in high school, but it wasn't like this!" but pretty much anything else should probably just stick to the college years.

If you aren't able to fix the problem with a simple change like that, then your story is probably fundamentally not appropriate for Literotica.

There are other sites that allow stories like this. You might want to consider that option rather than trying to alter and shoehorn your story to fit Lit's rules.

From this description, there isn't anything that would get the story rejected for underage content. Your characters are at least 18, and a simple reference to growing up isn't a problem. We all grow up. There has to be something in the way you did it that got it kicked back. You can't eroticize youthful experience.

As far as the forums go, it's probably best to keep the rule that if you can't publish it in a story you also can't talk about it here. There are also rules like no personal attacks, and no politics in the AH.

Back in the dark ages at a large university in a very large Southern US city, there was a course called ‘Love and Married Life’ or something to that effect. The course title was just to get it past the powers to be. The classes were huge with several hundred students and talk was about sex and was straight forward and blunt. Guest speakers were brought in including a male to female transsexual, MDs to discuss VDs, as they were called back then, psychologists; you name it.
So the idea of a class like this is not beyond the pale but I rather doubt very many colleges or universities have anything like this now.

You're getting the same advice given when you first floated this a couple of months ago. Clearly, the premise of the story pushed the line.

The same criteria applies to the Forums. If it doesn't fly in a story, it doesn't fly here, either.

I'm not sure what this bit means in particular but a charitable reading of your description doesn't raise any red flags to me. When it comes to the underage rule, though, moderators are likely not going to be charitable.

Still, there are plenty of stories here that really put the "sex" in "sex ed", so it should be possible to push yours through. Keep trying!

The overall tone of the 'story' is just a Professor talking to a bunch of students. No 'demos', not even 'this is his johnson and this is her cupcake'--mostly about how people feel about sex:
"My point is that our sexual nature is a very old, very deep part of our bodies, worked out over millions of years to keep us reproducing; and despite all our smarts, and all our culture, and all our tech, and all our religion and politics, we still fuck pretty much the way critters have done for millions of years. Yes folks, hee hee, I do, and I’m sorry, so do you. But, and it is a big but, har har, that sapiens part of us keeps trying to mess with what nature took all that time to build. We want to control it. We want to own it. Because that way we won’t be so scared of it. And maybe we think that if we control how we are born, we can control how we die.

We can’t. Never all the way. Human sex is like surfing. If you pay attention, and learn, you can be so good you think you are controlling the wave. You’re not, of course. The wave is part of an ocean that is so much more huge than you. We're more like bonobos than dogs, though. We "use" sex as social commication much more than most animals do. And we clearly engage our "big brains" a lot more than other animals.

I haven't read Lit's guidance in a while, but it used to say, "over eighteen, or at least a senior in high school."

You can put your characters in a situation where people are commonly adult, have them act adult, and leave out any reference to a specific age. That raises no flags. It also doesn't let you play an age card.

The story as described in the OP shouldn't trigger a rejection. The piece quoted above shouldn't trigger a rejection. The rejection is being triggered by something that hasn't been described on this thread.

There should have been a reason for the denial. Was it underage? If so, go back and make sure it is explicit that all your characters are over 18. If not, address the issue in the denial. If you would like some help with non-age issues, I'm sure there are people on this forum that would be wiling to edit or beta read for you. If you just want to vent, well, I will suggest that this particular type of venting can be met with some rather stern responses.

As an alternative you could write it as an adult sex Ed class for people who never had it at school. There must be thousands of people who were excused because there religious parents were opposed to it or perhaps they just had the flu that day.

It always amazes me that we are the only species on the planet that needs to be told what to do. This isn't a case of which peg in which hole, there's only one peg and a 50% chance you'll get it right.
