Of course, the 'winners' will always be the manufacturers and suppliers—a golden tsunami for them—but this may never have happened without trump showing allies of many, many decades that US promises (under him) mean nothing. The bully never sees this kind of concession as a strength, only a weakness they can try to exploit whilst saving face.

Vance also accused Ukrainians of not being willing to "negotiate in good faith" and claimed that the US had not been treated fairly when it came to aid to Ukraine.

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that 35% of all money sent to Ukraine by the European Union are in the form of secured loans.

Granted, the loans were made on terms very favorable to Ukraine and collateralized by seized Russian assets in Europe, but they're still loans and technically not 'free'.
