I don't know if people still do this where I live, but there is an old tradition of weaving pine branches together into a "blanket" that is laid over a loved ones grave. I remember old ladies making them when I was a kid.

That's SO filled with symbolism and meaning, I love it!

Here we use spruce tree branches, and they are not weaved, but set to decorate graves in late autumn, when it's too cold for flowers, until spring. If there's little to no snow, it's much prettier. (On a snowy winter it will all be covered, but we may dig some of the branches from snow at Yule.)

Bet! This is a constant fear. I usually hold my drink from the top with a straw between my fingers if I can manage it. I realize it might just be giving me a false sense of security, though.

For the record: my hubby (as Santa) left me a Stocking full of my favorite things and lots of presents under the tree.
