This thread is primarily to keep character and plot information separate from the OOC banter and to keep it easily accessible. I will continually edit this intro post to include recent character and plot developments, and each writer associated with the RP will post their characters here and update them as the story in-game unfolds. Beyond that, please refrain from posting here and redirect the content to the OOC thread, found HERE. If you have yet to join the RP and are interested in writing with us, please first post your character ideas in the OOC and then, once I have approved you, you may post your profiles here.

The IC thread can be found HERE.

Nightwing

Nightwing_Young_Justice.jpg

Real Name: Richard “Dick” Grayson
Age: 18
Birthday: December 1st
Birthplace: Gotham City, New Jersey

Skills

Dick possesses the peak athletic strength and endurance of a man who regularly engages in extensive physical exercise. His martial arts skills rival those of Batman, and he was rigorously trained by his mentor in everything from escapology to criminology, fencing, stealth, disguise, and numerous other combat/non-combat disciplines. He is fluent in a number of languages and had the finest education as Bruce Wayne's ward.

Gear/Equipment

Dick has a number of gadgets in his utility belt, including several dozen modified batarangs (called wingblades), sticky bombs, and tracers. He also uses small wrist-mounted devices that project a holographic interface-based microcomputer on the top side, and a grappling line shooter on the bottom side. The line material is known as "Smartsilk," a Wayne Tech prototype multipurpose substance infused with nanocircuitry to shift from a liquid to a solid via electronic commands. To reach heights beyond jumping range, Dick grabs a Smartsilk capsule from his belt, attaches it to the wrist shooter, and the presses a button on the shooter that sends a command to the Smartsilk telling it to eject out in the form of an ultra-thin string with adhesive properties at the far end. Pressing the button a second time draws the substance back into the capsule, along with a certain amount of air to re-pressurize it for its next use.

He has a state-of-the-art motorcycle complete with an onboard computer and built in WiFi, as well as a helmet that connects wirelessly to the computer with audio and video feedback and communications capabilities. The helmet also has nightvision and a heads-up display on the inside of the visor.

Dick's costume is made of a version of the Nomex fire-resistant, triple-weave Kevlar-lined material. It is an excellent protection against damage, and also insulated against electricity. The suit he wears is also fireproof, and his mask is held in place with spirit gum.

Powers/Abilities

Dick has no superhuman powers, and relies solely on technology and his own wits.

Background

When Dick was nine, his parents were killed by Tony Zucco, a gangster who demanded protection money from Haly's Circus, where the Graysons performed. When Mr. Haly refused, Zucco murdered his star performers.

Bruce Wayne had been good friends with John and Mary Grayson and had been named as Dick's godfather, so the boy came live at Wayne Manor. It was only a matter of time before the boy discovered Wayne was Batman, and soon he too was learning to fight crime and took on the alias of Robin.

In his civilian life, Dick enrolled at Gotham Academy, one of the most prestigious private schools in the country. He scored consistently high on all his examinations, ultimately graduating early at the age of sixteen. His near-perfect school record earned him a spot at Princeton University, where Bruce Wayne had attended. However, due to elevated criminal activity around this time, Dick found it harder to keep up with his classes, leading to his departure from the university after only one year. He continued forward with independent studies in a variety of subjects whenever he found time.

During his years as the Dark Knight's sidekick and apprentice, Dick met many other heroes, and upon turning eighteen, passed on the mantle of Robin to Jason Todd. He then adopted the Nightwing persona and continued fighting crime.

Superboy

Real Name: Conner Kent
Age: Appears 18
Birthday: February 1st
Birthplace: Cadmus Labs, Washington, D.C.

Gear/Equipment/Abilities

Conner is a clone created from both Kryptonian and Human DNA, and as such, his powers are significantly weaker than those of Superman. Just like Kal-El, Conner benefits from the ability to photosynthesize, the result of generations of genetic engineering back on Krypton. The amount of solar energy he can absorb naturally is rather small, but his cells are designed to rapidly multiply the stored power and greatly amplify his internal bioelectric pathways. Enhanced strength, speed, durability, healing, and physical senses are all results of this genetic process.

The energy used for purely physical activities regenerates relatively quickly, but it takes considerably longer to store enough power for more advanced feats such as heat vision and sustained flight. This limitation is due to his DNA being only half Kryptonian, though Conner can reach full power faster by using a Sun Chamber, such as the one at Superman's Fortress of Solitude. Though even at this level, his energy drains rather fast, preventing him from sustaining flight for more than an hour or two. For this reason, he refrains from flying in most cases.

Background

Known as Project Kr to the Cadmus Labs staff, Conner is one of many Genomorphs engineered for an as-of-yet unrevealed plot. He was force-grown to adulthood in the span of a few months and received extensive psychic conditioning and programming. He was brainwashed to believe his sole purpose was to be a weapon, a role he would fulfill so long as his creators had control of him.

Red Beetle
scarlet_scarab_by_ish_miles-d6e9hpc.jpg

Real Name Frederick "Rick" Romanov
Age 19

Skills & Powers

Rick is a genius, especially with technology. He is a highly skilled analyst and theoretical scientist of multiple specialties. He is an average engineer, better with theory than with hands on. Since bonding with the scarab Rick has begun martial arts training.

As the Red Scarab Rick has flight, super strength, invulnerablity and the ability to fire bursts of energy, sonics and metal spikes shaped like staples. He also has an advanced AI that talks to him, constantly criticising him.

Background
Born in squalor to alcoholic parents who made enough money not to need welfare, but spent most of their money on booze. Rick left that life when he got perfect scores on every aptitude test his school had, going to college on scholarship at a very young age, eventually graduating with doctorates at 17. Because of the Reach invasion in 2006, Rich focused on xenotechnology in his studies. When he graduated STAR labs scooped him up, giving the theoretical scientist access to biggest vault of xenotechnology on the planet. His job was researching and cataloging alien technology, doing very little to no experimentation. When he was involved in experiments it was as an assistant. Rick is the most junior man in his department, but has the most general knowledge of xenotech. Rick soon became one of the world's leading experts in general xenotechnology, often consulting with the Justice League and the US government.

One night, while working late at STAR, Rick left his desk to use the bathroom and found one of his superiors transporting a Reach scarab that Rick had been studying. It was the only functioning scarab STAR had, and with help from the JLA they had disabled it's connection to the Reach and it had been sitting in the deep storage vaults ever since. Rick immediately confronted his superior, and a tussle ensued. As they struggled a known supervillain arrived to pick up the scarab from the traitorous superior. (DM'S choice on the villain. I was thinking Chesire, or Black Manta, but it's your story) Rick tried to fight but was wounded. However, before they took it away, Rick managed to bond the scarab to himself, becoming Red Beetle.

Real Name: Barbara Gordon
Age: 18
Birthday: September, 23rd
Birthplace: Gotham City, New Jersey

Skills
Blessed with an eidetic memory, and genius level intelligence, Barbara Gordon has mastered many skills. She is a gifted hacker, and programmer. She has studied many martial arts and acrobatic disciplines. She has even studied detective techniques by watching her father, and later under Batman's tutelage. She has trained her body to its physical peak. Her mind is focuses like a laser when she sets a goal, and he goal right now is to be the best crime fighter she can be.

Gear/Equipment
Barbara has many items she carries with her into the field. Some supplied by batman, and some supplied or modified on her own.

She carries batarangs, trackers, and sticky explosives. She also has modified her batman supplied, wrist-mounted holographic computer to better suit her hacking, allowing it to accept eye movement inputs as well as hand movements. She has designed a projectile that can be fired onto most electronic devices giving her remote link access to her wrist console. She just needs to be within firing range.

Batman has also supplied her with the same smart silk grapnel that Nightwing uses.

Her mask also functions as a helmet, protecting her skull from degree of impact.

Her utility belt carries a visor that can cycle through night vision, thermal, and can tint themselves to block out blinding light.

The helmet also houses her radio for keeping in touch with her team.

Batgirl's suit is made of batman supplied Nomex Triweave kevlar, for maximum protect against attack, and fire or electricity without sacrificing agility.

Powers/Abilities
Barbara's true strength is her exceptional intelligence, which she has focused on physical and mental training.

Background
Barbara grew up in Gotham watching her father, Jim, valiantly crusade against injustice from inside the corrupt police department. He had her training in self defense since she was six years old.

It wasnt until her early teens when she saw her father working with the famous vigilante, Batman, that her ambition to be like her father shifted to following in batman's footsteps.

Her first foray into crime fighting didnt go well. She had a home made costume, and hung around the police station until she was able to follow batman to a crime in progress.
He saved her life, but no attempt to discourage her could ever keep her from trying, to become Batgirl.

Eventually, Batman took her under his wing and trained and outiftted her. If she was going to follow his path she should do it the right way.
It wasnt until she was already long time colleges with Robin that he revealed his identity as her classmate at Gotham Academy, Dick Grayson.
The two became close friends, but never romantically involved.

She and Dick both graduated early and went to different colleges, but as crime fighters they stayed in touch and frequently helped each other, even after his change to the Nightwing persona.

Jason Todd took up the mantle of Robin, and she worked with him on occasion, but by that time she was doing mostly solo work.

Her father is still in the dark about her Vigilante identity.

Beast Boy

Alright, I'll reread what I wrote before, but this is what I'm working from to begin with, at least.

And, as I mentioned in a previous incarnation of this rp, Gar is not red and does not have any connection (that we know of) to the Red, source of the powers of Animal Man, Vixen, B'wana Beast, and similar powered individuals.

From the age of 1 to 21, this individual was educated in a various disciplines ranging from engineering and warfare, social sciences like economics and politics as well as histories, languages, cultures, etc, etc.

It's been speculated that the man behind the mask is of some Atlantean descent, as abilities such as Hydrokinesis and Enhanced Strength are attribute common among native Atlanteans. Miss Martian

Miss_MartianYJustice.jpg

Real Name: M’gann M’orzz (Megan Morse)
Age: 52 - 18 Biological human equivalent

Powers and Abilities: As a Martian, Megan has complete psionic control over every cell in her body, this offers a number of advantages. She can shape-shift, altering her physical appearance, and that of her organic clothing, to represent that of others, although male forms offer her something of a challenge to truly replicate. This shape-shifting means that she can also render herself camouflaged, though not truly invisible in addition to an enhanced healing factor thanks to her more malleable form. This also allows her to shape her form more extravagantly, for example growing extra arms or forming whip like appendages.

Her psionic control is but one aspect of her psionic powers however, and she is skilled both telepathically, and telekinetically. As telepathy comes naturally to Martians, she is likely to make the mistake of communicating with humans in that way, which may make others uncomfortable until she learns to respect those boundaries. Though she can speak both Martian and English, she is able to translate other languages psychically given enough time and concentration. Though it will take some learning and development of her abilities, M’gann has the psychic potential to examine the mind of those she comes in contact with, restore lost memories and even physically rip them from the owner.

Her telekinesis is formidable, though not necessarily on the level of her Uncle J’onn, though she can control multiple objects at once, too many can lead to her losing control if she is not paying enough attention, and while knocking things off course is well within her abilities, lifting something such as a tank is probably not. Telekinesis is also how she simulates flight, but moving herself through the air.

As with all Martians M’gann’s form is naturally denser than that of humans, though nowhere near the level as a Kryptonian, though it does lend her some degree of superhuman endurance and strength.

Equipment: M’gann M’orzz, like all Martians, possesses a set of psionically controlled, organic clothing. It is highly resistant to damage and capable of self-repair, in addition to responding to her will, allowing her to reshape it into any outfit she desires.

In addition, she has her own bioship, an organic ship that can be controlled and piloted psionically. M’gann can command the ship to reshape her form, opening hatches where necessary as well as entering a camouflage mode not dissimilar to M’gann’s own ability.

Personality: M’gann could, in every way, be described as a sweet kid. Kind and good-natured, it’s not in her to hurt someone’s feelings, at least not intentionally. Her personality almost seems as if it has been copied from, or at least inspired by female characters in old sitcoms. As a result she often seems incessantly positive and cheerful, she could even be described as perky.

A great deal of her knowledge of human custom comes from old sitcoms, and as such she can often be surprised by modern customs, or even less modern ones. Sometimes this can make her seem scatterbrained, though in fact it is simply a result of confusion between the customs she is used to and those the rest of the team may be used to.

Background: M’gann is one of the Martian Manhunter’s nieces, of which he has an abundance. Though she was raised on Mars, she somehow developed an infatuation with the life of those on Earth thanks to her Uncle’s stories. Eventually her love for the culture of the little blue orb led to her taking her chance during one of her Uncle’s infrequent trips back to Mars, she stowed away aboard his ship, and it was too late by the time J’onn realised he had an unexpected passenger.

Now on Earth, J’onn kept M’gann apart for a few months, and she took the time alone to familiarise herself with the culture, perfecting her appearance, her persona, and her super hero costume. M’gann was ready to meet humans, to meet her Uncle’s allies, but he was reluctant to expose her to danger, and worse, to human teenagers, until finally she convinced him that nothing could possibly be dangerous about the party at Emerald Gardens, not with all those heroes in attendance. Even he could find no fair objection and so M’gann spent hours picking what to ‘wear’ to the event, and as a result, was late.
