Weird inspirations

I was just writing about Jos Whedon on the Separate the Art from the Artist thread.

It made me think about the escort agency, Emma’s Escorts, in my Angels & Demons series. I think part of the inspiration for this was the demonic lawyers of Wolfram & Hart from Whedon’s Angel.

Any strange places you get your ideas from?

To be perfectly honest, I don’t have a clue. I also fairly certain, I really don’t want to know. 🥸

I tend to get inspiration for female characters appearance from porn stars. I occasionally use the first name of the actress for the character as well.

I was at work the other day chatting with a coworker. She likes to look at Zillow and find her "lottery house". She showed me this beautiful Victorian house she'd found.
Make coworker walks by and comments, "You know what the first thing I'd buy if I won the lottery?"
Us: A Ferrari?
Him: Nope, a *spoiler*.

On the drive home I thought, "There's a story there!".

Hopefully I'll finish the story tomorrow.

In one of the art threads recently someone posted the movie poster from an obscure 70s T&A comedy, called Six Pack Annie. It made me smile so I looked up the synopsis on IMDB. It's so fun and sexy that I took a few notes and I'm going to write something along the same lines. Wrote the first 700 words last night just to break the ice. Working title - Georgia Peaches. Like most of my stuff, it will be pure porn. :geek:

Is the woman or the beer meant to be more attractive?

Asking for a friend.

We were driving around the coast of Maine and we went down Oyster River Road, and I thought, "Hmm, 'Oyster River' just sounds like a cool title."

It took a while to come up with an idea for the title, but I thought about how oyster has been used as a slang term for vagina, and that made me think it should be a lesbian story set in Maine, and the seafood connection made me think one of the main characters should work on a lobster boat, and off I went...

That’s just wow!

I suppose I’m writing a story (lesbian again) set in a kids trampoline park. Mostly as I went to one with a young family member over the holidays.

But that’s much more lyrical.

First of all, it's good to see you back and posting and starting fun threads, @EmilyMiller.

By far the no. 1 weird inspiration for one of my stories was provided by @MelissaBaby, who in late 2019 posted mention on a thread of a recent true news story in which thousands of "penis fish" -- a type of worm that happens to look a lot like a male phallus--washed up on the beach during a storm along the California coast. Naturally, I thought, "Story!" So I wrote perhaps my weirdest story, an apocalyptic horror tale in which aliens disguised as penis worms wash up on the beach with the intention of mating with human females. That one's a pride and joy for me.

I remain grateful to @MelissaBaby to this day for the inspiration!

Pure as in not impure, not complicated or dark, neither corrupt nor obscene, dirty nor unclean. Not immodest, polluted, tainted unchaste or vulgar, indecent nor nasty...

So, tell me exactly how you're going to accomplish this amazing feat... 🤣

OOOh, so many seafood metaphors. This should be fun. Can't wait. Satire, right?

I can't speak for the poster artist, but my story won't be centered on cheap beer. :giggle:

I have been curious to read. Will have to add to the list.
