That's it, go on, leave the washing up for those in the East of y'all.
On the other hand, it's a really decent coffee. . . .

HP, you would bitch if I beat you with a new stick. :D

Fresh coffee for the morning crew since the cat has already woke me up.

it is 56 degrees and that will be the high for the day. After this it will drop to the mid 40's and stay there for the rest of the day. Weird weather. It is the last day of February after all.

Nibbling on a PopTart. I'm not sure what that says about the day other than I just woke up and I feel lazy.

I reserve the right to have a bit of a moan on occasions.

We got +13C, gloomy, thick cloud and moist (it was raining, earlier).

Is there any of that fresh coffee atill about ?

The coffee is on the counter where it always is. Just move the dead cat out of the way.

Good morning all 53f foggy.

Dead cats that keep coming back... sounds like pet cemetery all over again. I told them they should have burned that damn cat when it died, but would they listen to me, no, they just had to hide behind all the saws hanging in the door way. Fools all. Meanwhile, I jumped in the running car and saved myself. Kind of. The bridge was out and the car plunged over the edge. I was lucky though the chasm under the bridge was only 3 feet deep, so I survived.

Anyway... Coffee please. I would asked for donuts, but the craving is only a hold over from the current story I'm working on.

Y'all have a great day. See ya's later.

Zeb, we don't have any donuts. The bakery down the street closed. That is why I was having a PopTart for breakfast.

The Tallahachee Bridge that Billy Joe McAllister jumped from was twelve feet above the creek. And it fell down two years later.

More coffee before the dentist drills and fills. And bills.

I need some of Tex's coffee, my 13 year old made coffee last night and there was a bit left this morning, so I thought better drink it so it's not wasted and it was so strong! I dumped it.
She makes the strongest coffee. I like it strong but she fills the filter with grounds. I need to get a scoop for her to use. I just eyeball it, but she doesn't seem able to do that.
I have this amazing coffee maker though that has a stainless steel carafe so the coffee was still hot this morning when I poured a cup.

It's cold and grey out today. Supposed to be 10 degrees colder today, but I don't know what the temp was yesterday.

Mornin’ all! Up in the mountains, doin’ the square root of diddly. Much, much warmer than it’s been, almost up to freezing, yay! May write some, but might simply do my best to conserve the planet’s rapidly-diminishing supply of inertia. We shall see.

Coffee tastes different somehow. Tex, did you wash the pot when you refurbished?

Actually, I took it out to the shop and sandblasted it before i washed it. It'll break back in but now it holds twice as much coffee. :)

After 53 years, I think it is time to stop smoking. I hope.

Good luck with that. Are you getting help?

I quit 24 years ago, after smoking for 23 years. As a fair warning, dropping from 2 1/2 packs-a-day to zero over a long weekend pumped my libido up real high for a while, and I think that may be common.

My doctor gave me a prescription for Chantix. I started it this morning. I can smoke the first week but I'm trying not to. So far, 3 cigarettes since 7 AM. I quit once before for about 8 months. Why I went back to it, I don't remember. Something about an ex girlfriend and smoking while drinking beer. I no longer have that girlfriend and I don't drink beer any more.

I'll see how it goes but so far, so good.

Oh yeah, I should add that I smoke about one pack a day and they are ultra lights and I use a tarbar filter so I'm way farther ahead of the game than you were.

Yeah, it was hard to quit for me too. With the help of The Patch and just holding a cigar in my hand, along with a lot of porn, I did it way back in 2003. Haven't had a cigarette since July 1, 2003.

Hypoxia - I was real lucky, the bridge was only a foot off above the chasm. So the front of the car only fell four feet in total. The tow truck pulled it out the next morning and I was on my way.

Tex - I know, that's why I didn't really ask for them. Maybe I should re-open that donut shop if it doesn't need much cleaning up.

I quit a few times, but usually not for long. I did make it a year-and-a-half once before I met my wife. She smoked and had a pretty sedentary lifestyle, and that got me started again. When I quit for good I had to find something to do with my hands, so I got involved in a chat room of sorts and kept my hands busy with the keyboard.

Best three-day project of my life.

Tex, you may have heard of an unpleasant problem we had in the UK a decade or so ago, which featured the nastiest cold & cough ever experienced by human-kind (H1N5 ?).
I got it. and was prescribed something called 'Tamiflu'.
It was one of those ghastly 'cures that's worse than the disease.
I didn't smoke for three weeks (to try a fag was to give me a cough the like of which I'd not wish on an enemy).
And that it how I gave up smoking.

Any chance of a cup of tea please ?

Sorry to be so long with the tea but I was in the middle of making homemade chicken noodle soup. I hate sudden cravings.

Fresh coffee for the evening crew. Help your own self. I'll be over here eating soup when it is ready.

4 cigarettes today so far and there won't be anymore. I ran out and i don't feel like going to the store. Heaven help me later.

11am. Ist March and officially the first day of autumn. I'm in Sydney and its forecast to be sunny and 30C today (about 85F ?) . I left my place in Queensland with two thirds of it flooded, though hardly any rain. It all came down from the northern monsoon a couple of weeks back.

I have joined the crocks brigade and have come down here for a bunch of tests which will probably say 'you're old , you don't look after yourself and just do these 497 things.' Mmm' maybe.

And the nurses are nice, nearly all migrants , there's a Chinese woman in charge who is an interesting mix of stroppy and flirty, and the junior Dr is an Afghan(Hazara) who the nurses told me walked from western Afghanistan firstly to an Iranian refuge then 9 months later walked back across Afghanistan and Pakistan before finding a way out through India. Lost her mother on the way but made it with her dad and younger sister - all before she was 12.

Anyways here comes Draula - the blood nurse so, see youse all later.

That’s an amazing story! I’d definitely trust a woman that determined to live with my life!

Tex,
I got off cigs a year and a half ago and switched to vape. Vaped at 12mg for 9 months and had a heart attack. Dropped from 12mg to 1.5 in a week, then to zero. Still hit the vape out of habit but also supplement that with suckers and toothpicks. Muscle memory is a bitch.

Best of luck to you. You’ve got this.,

A good Cuban cigar every few months is good enough for us. They're easy to walk across the border. Pack them in with the discounted prescription drugs and cheap mezcal gusano (with worm). Hint: by the time you reach the worm, you don't care.

I forgot to take opioids before seeing the new sadistic dentist today. I'll remember next time. I was drilled, filled, and billed with inadequate numbing. I hate when that happens.

Snow levels are down enough to drive in and out. Melted runoff hasn't flooded around here. Not like in our old Russian River homeland, where many villages are now islands. We don't have leaky propane tanks drifting past us. Whew.

I forget which doctors we're seeing tomorrow. But that'll get us into town where we can reload on coffee, rum, and tamales, the three major food groups. Yogurt, too.

Best of luck as you taper off! What a wonderful gift for your family, friends and health.
