Also known as patrician towers, the tall houses of Regensburg were a display of wealth and prosperity in medieval times.

Today is NASA's Day of Remembrance, which honors those who lost their lives while furthering the cause of exploration and discovery.
We join NASA in remembering the crews of Apollo 1, Space Shuttle Challenger (STS-51L), and Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-107).

A momentary lapse of reason. Let's go back to Prague and take a look at the Astronomical clock.

The Prague astronomical clock or Prague Orloj is a medieval astronomical clock attached to the Old Town Hall in Prague. First installed in 1410, it is the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest clock still in operation.

Ohhh...I forgot something about Regensburg. Beer! Bavarians love their beer. Here is photographic proof that I went to a museum.

Front and center in the lobby of the Museum of Bavarian History nobly stands the Lowenbräu Lion, the "Lions Brew".

Locks...not like any lock I've ever seen! First time going through locks on any river.

From Nuremberg, Germany, to Budapest, Hungary, the Danube River crosses Europe’s Continental Divide. 16 locks over more than 100 miles to lift or lower vessels, depending if they are going North or South.

Beautiful lake, isn't it? I thought the scenery was breathtaking throughout the visit. I wish I could have explored more, alas, time didn't allow for it. Bratislava, Slovakia, and the Carpathian Mountains looked worth exploring as well. Thanks for sharing with us Ana!

Next stop, Passau, Germany. I would enjoy sharing a few beers with my Lit bestie here. You can take the lass out if Ireland, but you can't take Ireland out of the lass.

Resting comfortably on the German border with Austria you will find Passau also know as Dreifùssestadt, the city of three rivers. This ancient and beautiful city sits at the confluence of the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers. Founded as a Roman colony between 249 - 450 AD, the Passau is renowned for it’s outstanding Gothic and Baroque architecture.

St. Paul's church is not the biggest in Passau, but it is the oldest, dating from 1050 AD.

I love you thread, N8! Thanks for sharing your beautiful travels. Here is a picture while at Tonto National Forest in AZ.

As a East coaster, born and raised, Arizona was my first exposure to the West. The landscapes and colors were astonishing, in total contrast to what I was familiar with. Beautifully different. Not more or less beautiful. Thanks for sharing the photo and I‘m thrilled you dropped in. Say hi to Bernard!

I would have loved that. Guinness flows through my veins as you know 🥰

Great pictures of Passau, another lovely town on the Danube. A good friend of mine studied there and friends have cycled along the Danube from Passau to Vienna. A trip that is on my bucket list along with the Camino / Jakobsweg in Northern Spain.
