I don’t think you have to elevate it to the status of a religion to make nudity/nudism play in a story. Views on nudity are mostly cultural. You can go to Europe and there are a number of places you’ll see people nude or mostly nude at the beach. Tribes in Africa are completely nude or only covered by a small covering.

You’d just need to find a way to either create a universe where nudity is viewed in a less conservative light than it is in 2023 America, or that you are apart of a group/area that is more open with nudity.

I do think it is going to be a hard jump to just start a story with someone like Blake Lively rolling up to your house with your sister and not being uncomfortable with your nudity. I think there has to be more context to provide that realism.

Were I would put the fork on history, in America especially, would be a failure to introduce pool water chlorination.
