Considering giving a look at doing the VE program again for a bit-- however I have set rules- they are mine not yours don't get upset over them-- NO one under 21. Period. Even as a 'memory, or in a discussion' No incest- or non-con. Not a fan of sci fi or celeb. Nothing outlandish-- like toilet stuff. I know next to nothing about BDSM stuff, so that would be a grammar only edit basically. I am not interested in writing your story for you or in editing your new novel-- if you are writing that much- good for you!! Seek a pro editor that you pay for. I am not interested in going back and reading your past work so I "know your style." I can do the frilly quick look or a full on get into it thing... But at the end of the day it is your story - so you will do what you want to do with it.

Firstly, a thousand apologies to anyone who messaged me last time I posted about editing. I genuinely intended to help people with their stories, but shortly after posting I ended up taking an extended break from the site, for various uninteresting reasons.

With that said, I do now, really, want to do some beta-reading/editing. I'm not a pro by any means, so I won't see every error, but I think I can give some general help, suggestions, reflections, that sort of thing. Take a look at my stories if you want to see if my style is of any interest to you at all ("Stories we ruined together" and "A holiday surprise"). You could let me know if you are looking for advice/perspective on a particular aspect of your work, or just for general thoughts.

I don't really have any big no-nos, it's hard to shock or offend me. I suppose the only thing is that I dislike very tropey-cliched stuff, and very unrealistic scenarios in which everyone is amazing and everything goes perfectly, like a highly-polished porno. Each to their own, but that's not too interesting to me. If you're looking to do something a bit weird then I might be useful. But it doesn't have to be weird necessarily.

Turnaround would be around 7 days for an average-length story.

Are you still available? I just submitted my first story and its in pending status, but it’s just the first chapter of a longer work and I could use some advice from readers that aren’t in my immediate life.

First of all the "technical data":

almost 35000 words,
8 chapters and is 64 pages long with Arial 12 in my programm.
Book description: "(Not) a disaster winter"
The catastrophic winter of 1978/79, two siblings are snowed in, alone on their Parents‘ Farm in Schleswig-Holstein (Northern Germany, near the border to Denmark) and become loser in the process.
How do they deal with this situation...

It was my first story "(K)Ein Katastrophenwinter", which I wrote down and published on the German Literotica page on November 7th, 2022.
Since the story, if I can believe the comments and ratings, was well received by German readers, I wanted to make it available to English-speaking readers as well.
Although I learnd English at school for 6 years (but that was a little longer ago), and I also had "support" from a translation program... But is the story easy to read for a "native English speaker"?

I am currently in the final stages of editing and correcting based on my knowledge.
I think I'll finish these over the next week and then turn the story over to a beta reader with confidence.
I would be very happy about offers here in the forum or via PM. I can provide the story (via email) as .doc, .docx, .txt, .pdf, .rtf, .odt or .pap, at the option of the potential beta reader.

Sorry to be persnickety, but not sorry enough not to be.

I am available to edit, but contact me via the Volunteer Editor's Program. I cannot be lurking these forums all day. The VEP sends emails to my dedicated address, which is much easier and safer for me to check.

While I can adapt my services to your needs and desires, my default mode is to go pretty hard. That does not mean I offer critiques as a beta reader would. If one were to criticize my editing style, one might call it "too constructive for its own good."

If my queue is too full to get your piece back to you in a reasonable amount of time, I will at least quickly reply to you explaining as much. Note that my queue does tend to fill up to overflowing whenever I post/update in these threads, or update my profile on the VE board. I'm not sure what advice I can give you to get around that particular collective action problem.

I read primarily LW stories but have browsed other groups over time. If you look at my work the first story was written for my girlfriend, later my wife, at the time and was a fantasy of hers. I do ask that you please proofread your own work at least once before sending it to me. That means you must read through it yourself and check it, and then put it into a word processor and run the automatic spelling/grammar/punctuation check function. I will not look at anything which has obviously not been run through Word etc, as I can get it back to you much faster if you've already fixed the more easily spotted issues.

Further, I will be able to contribute very little beyond basic spelling/grammar checks when it comes to stories that I don't find personally interesting or which feature kinks that don't appeal to me.

As such I will advise that if your story has anything to do with maledom, bathroom stuff, pain related kinks, I am not the best choice, and there are other editors who are better at working with that kind of material.

If your story is about femdom/femsub/malesub or the myriad of other kinks around it though, I'm your guy!

Please keep in mind that per Literotica's rules I both will not and cannot review any work which is intended to be sold.

My turnaround time is around 48 hours from first looking at your work to sending it back, however that is only if I'm not working on anything else at the time. While there's no maximum word limit in theory, in practice if you send me something that's over 20k words I might take a long time to look at it.

Please be forewarned: I don't usually couch my words behind platitudes, nor do I withhold constructive criticism where I feel it is helpful. If you ask me to edit your work to any degree beyond simple spelling and grammar, then I am going to be as honest with you as I would hope anyone editing and critiquing my work would be.
