ARCHIVAL DISCUSSION to 11-14-08

I think the Genre discussion has wound down, so if whoever is next in line wants to put their story up, I would have no objection.

It's not a valid threadjack if you can't even spell it!

I'm not sure that the western story discussion has quite wound down. I was about halfway through it today when real life came calling.

I have a seasonal romance story that has more narrative in the first 500 [words?] than may be good for its chances of ever being accepted by some anthology.
Should I infer from the bit above about being accepted that there is a publisher (and therefore a deadline) involved? Regardless, it's my job to put Rumpie at the top of the queue based on his participation in past discussions.

Current Queue:
1. Rumple Foreskin
2. jomar
3. starrkers

Okay, we'll give it a couple of more days then...and as always, I look forward to your comments.

If Jomar or Starrkers are in a rush, I can wait. However, it would help with an end of the month deadline if I can post my tawdry tale on Monday.

Hi Rumpie,

I hadn't really been paying attention to Darkside's discussion both because I was busy and because I prefer not to read anyone else's critique before writing my own. I guess it has been three days since the last post, so maybe Darkside is correct and it has wound down sooner than I expected. That being the case, you may start the discussion on "A Special Christmas Present" anytime you wish.

Take Care,
Penny

Hi Penny,
I have a story I'd like to offer for consideration. It's lengthy - seven chapters (21K) - so folks could pick and choose. The first chapter got some good feedback from some of the usual suspects here (drksde, VarianP), but I'd appreciate some more if they'll weigh in. I want to improve as a writer and make this as good as I can.
Hi Jomar,

You're welcome to start your thread anytime you're ready. The suggested format link is in the post immediately above. PM me if you've any additional questions or concerns.

Thanks for volunteering your story!

Take Care,
Penny

P.S.
This leaves only Starrkers in the queue, so if anyone else wants to host a discussion after her, this is the time and the place to say so! :)

Just a quick note to let you all know I'll going to have to pedal on pause for a bit - I'm be losing my internet connection in the next few days for an indeterminate time (dependant on the telco getting hardware hooked up, supposedly three weeks, but I ain't holdin' me breath!) so won't be able to take part in a discussion for a bit.
Dammit. I was hoping to get ideas so I could finish it while in 'net blackout!

Well, that sucks!

So you'll have *no* connection for days or weeks or more?

Which day is your last?

Regardless, drop us a line when you get back!

Which day is your last?
Probably Sunday, although it may not be till next week (we're moving and there's a problem with the phone line), depends largely on the weather.

Sunday? I mistakenly got the impression it was more immediate than that. You might get some useful comments before then. I think Jomar's thread has pretty much run it's course, so you're welcome to start yours right away if you want.

P.S.
If not, you'll still be #1 in the queue when you return.

OK, I'll give it a shot and see how I go.

Hi, gang.

For once, I've got an actual short story I'd love to get input on. Seems like a nice, quiet time for it...

Hi Varian.

We Just got back from a little trip, so I'm not totally sure, but the queue certainly appears to be empty- so go ahead and start the discussion of your short story whenever you are ready.

2nd Person story

I realize this story is written in the (for some) awkward 2nd person.
I think it packs an erotic charge, particularly in you have a kink for humiliation.
So go ahead and throw bricks, but I would like some feedback.
I'm also interested in discussing the 2nd person as a literary voice.

You know...as long as it's not too humiliating

Hi Bunnymaster!

Since there isn't another story discussion in progress and no one else in the queue, you're welcome to start your disucssion thread whenever you like. If you're busy this week due to the U.S. Thanksgiving holidays, feel free to wait until next week.

The suggested format for a discussion thread may be found here:
http://forum.literotica.com/showpost.php?p=22610237&postcount=6

For examples of previous discussions, see any "Link to discussion" above.

If you've any questions, feel free to ask them here or PM if you prefer.

Thanks for volunteering to share your story with us!

Take Care,
Penny

What you're saying is...

If I understand you correctly at this point I should ask a couple questions about the story... then just wait.

Correct?

Does this story adequately convey the humiliation kink?

Most significantly does the 2nd person voice harsh your buzz too much?

Yes, you should post the link and the questions, but in a thread dedicated to your story- like this one:
http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=546615

To start your thread, just click here:
http://forum.literotica.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=14

The title should be "Story Discussion: Nov 18, 2007. "Sleazy Motel" by Bunnymaster"

Since my post of yesterday I've read your story and it's pretty straightforward, so I don't think you need to explain anything up front, posting just the link and your questions should be just fine. Don't fret too much over it, either you or I can fix it if, for instance, the link doesn't work or if you think of another question.

After you start the thread, whoever wants to will read your story and reply. We'll try and answer your questions and also just chat about the story, what worked for us, what didn't and what might have worked better. Most of the exchange tends to be between the readers and the author, but readers often respond to one another as well.

I'm guessing I go here to request a story be added to the queue.

As a continuation of the dark/morality themes thrown up by Black Shanglan's "Scold's Bridle" I'd like to offer up "A Succubus for Christmas" for dissection.

http://www.literotica.com/stories/sh....php?id=338347

Is the ending dark enough and does it feel deserved?

Yes, Hydra, this is the place! Create your thread when it's obvious that Shanglan's discussion has wound down. That'll probably only be a few days.

The suggested format for a discussion thread may be found here:
http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?p=22610237#post22610237

Here's and example discussion:
http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=546615

To start your thread, just click here:
http://forum.literotica.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=14

The title should be: Story Discussion: Jan ?, 2008. "A Succubus for Christmas" by manyeyedhydra

If you run into any issues, feel free to ask them here or PM if you prefer. Thanks for volunteering to share your story with us!

Of course it's okay! You are welcome to start your thread whenever it's apparent that Hydra's discussion has pretty much run it's course.

Ok, I think Hydra's discussion has wound down, so Zoot is welcome to start his whenever he wants- after which the queue will be empty. If no one else expresses an interest in hosting a discussion within the next couple weeks, I'll volunteer one of mine.
