We can be taken down overseas however because our traditional methods of logistical support for our ground forces can be put at risk a lot easier with present technology than ever before by peer-level actors. That includes deploying them on overseas battlefields in the first place. None of the enemies we've fought in the last 60 years have been peer-level adversaries.

You forget all of the conditions we've had to suffer in order to get their questionable cooperation. Yet they are even closer to achieving their nuclear goals.
Foreign policy is not a straight forward. It involves working with adversaries to find and achieve a common goal....often compromises. You don't just get to dictate what you want and expect the opposition to capitulate.
