And based on McCain's intorduction of her somewhere in Pennsylvania, that's exactly her appeal. And maybe the only appeal. She's cute. She's bubbly, She has a voice that grates like the school librarian.

The mayor of Columbus Ohio has more people to govern than Sarah Palin does. And while she might be perfect as the governonr of Alaska, the US vice presidency is a bit different.

People seem to like her because she's sweet, a real person who understands mortgages, guns, babies, cooking and fishing. Thing is, that describes a lot of people, so any one of them could also be Vice President.

McCain met her once and his choice seems knee jerk and bizarre, actually.

I'd like to think that most PTA moms aren't as stupid as she is.

There had to be a better choice for VP, if he really needed to go vagina.

I think she is pretty cool and a good choice. America has been screaming they want change...well they got it! :)

she reminds me of the comedienne who did the song about moms set to the music of the William Tell Overture. Can't remember her name.

I'm still disturbed about her kids' names.

Bristol, Piper and Willow are typical enough names. Don't see anything odd about them. Not ones you hear every day but I've heard them all before.
Track and Trig sound eskimo to me and that would make sense.

Depends who you think voters can identify with.

For example, we all know lots of people who are 1/2 black, grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii, and wrote two books about themselves before age 45, don't we?

Palin and troopergate from today's Anchorage Daily News
http://www.adn.com/news/politics/story/510080.html

In a phone conversation Friday night, Walt Monegan, who was Alaska's top cop until Palin fired him July 11, told the Daily News that the governor also had e-mailed him two or three times about her ex-brother-in-law, Trooper Mike Wooten, though the e-mails didn't mention Wooten by name.

Monegan claims his refusal to fire Wooten was a major reason that Palin dismissed him. Wooten had been suspended for five days previously, based largely on complaints that Palin's family had initiated before Palin was governor.

Editorial about how unqualified she is
http://www.adn.com/opinion/story/510703.html

John McCain looked all over the United States to find the single Republican who is qualified to be, as the saying goes, a heartbeat away from the presidency, and he came up with Sarah Palin.

Really?

Sure, I suppose that many Alaskans are feeling a surge of pride that someone from our state has gotten a spot on the big stage. And most Alaskans like Palin. I know I do.

But let's be honest here. Her resume is as thin as the meat in a vending machine sandwich. I'm thinking being mayor of Wasilla doesn't qualify her. And she's less than two years into her first term as governor. Except for her high-profile gas pipeline legislation -- which I like a lot -- she doesn't have much to show. Oil taxes? Most of that work was done by the legislature. Ethics? Ditto. And her role in killing the much-touted Bridge to Nowhere? Talk about coming in after the battle is over and bayoneting the wounded.

And there's a growing sense that the government isn't running all that well, that all that's keeping the wheels from coming off is that 25,000 state employees show up for work every day.

The long and short of it is this: We're not sure she's a competent governor of Alaska. And yet McCain, who is no spring chicken, has decided she's the best choice to replace him as president if he should win and then fall afoul of the Grim Reaper.

Many I have talked with say Obama is way to arrogant and that is the main reason they will not vote for him.

As a thinking American, concerned about our future, I don't give two shits about whether I can identify with a candidate. I want to know that the presidential nominees--voted for by various members of political parties---has the smarts to run the country.

And I would like to know if those nominees has enough sense to select a VP running mate that can do the job should it be required. McCain looked over the list of Republican women in this country and came up with her? It's because she's fluffy. It's the only reason. It was intentional.

I agree.

She sounds like Sally Fields from the Flying Nun on repulican right wing steroids. A total psycho. She seems sexually repressed, frustrated, sublimated. As if she has never had an orgasm. her voice-shrill and irritating like fingernails on a chalkboard, or tearing styrofoam boards-I hate it.

We've already had the "guy we can relate to" for president...

It got us nowhere... actually, worse than nowhere.

Are you aware of how politics works and how people vote?
Of course it was intentional and it'll probably work.
I can't believe the number of people in here who think the average voter actually gives a shit about real issues.

What makes you think you know Obama any better than you know Palin?

And if it does, we'll get what we deserve... worse economy, more war, less personal freedom.

I don't believe McCain is four more years of Bush. I don't like him but I don't think he's Bush. We won't be in much worse shape with him than we will with Obama.
It's a coin toss as far as I'm concerned and lately I haven't been all that concerned. I'll sit back and roast marshmallows while the country burns.
Ok, maybe not that bad but it should still be fun.

Why, yes, since people were stupid enough to vote for Bush twice. I'm sure Lit represents a fairly decent cross section of the typical American voter. THey don't put a lot of thought into it.

I was speaking for myself as you can see.

I noticed that her big speech today was about introducing Todd and going on about his snowmobile race thing he does. Jesus christ on a stick, it's scary.

I laugh at comments like this...it shows how out of touch with reality many people in America are. People like you think the democrats will push a magic button and make everything "ok"!
I will not happen that way....

Hey! Why are you chicks always complaining? You act like this is a typical, Republican, cynical, condescending, token appointment of a completely unqualifed candidate ala Clarence Thomas.

The people of LIT do not represent the average American voter by any means. I hope the average American has more values than the ones I have seen here.
