Liliana bolted upwards at the sound of her alarm clock, then glanced at it. It was 7 am in the morning, she moaned, "I'm so late, Evie is going to freak!" She squealed before hopping out of bed. Liliana worked at one of the most famous coffee shops since Starbucks! After taking a shower and slipping into her uniform, she drove to the cafe to face her boss Evie. Taking a deep breath she entered, ready to be yelled at.

Evie sighed softly and glanced that the clock that hung on the wall. Why am I the only one here? she wondered to herself as she stretched and finished making the to go order. Her ears twitched slightly as the door opened and she looked up. She shook her head slightly as Liliana walked into the room. That girl was lucky it was a slow morning.

"You're late," Evie called out as she handed the regular his coffee and quickly turned her gaze to the bunny now walking her way.

Sarah hummed softly to herself as she walked into the Kat's Meow. She was a little late but she was hoping that the boss wouldn't notice. She hurried into the back and set her stuff down. She took a deep breath and smiled slightly. She loved her job but these early mornings were going to kill her.

Lily gave an embarrassed smile, "Sorry Evie." She said before putting her apron on, she hadn't had her morning coffee yet so as of right now she was still calm. Normally, she would be bouncing off the walls with her perkiness, annoying practically every customer that came in. "I stayed up late last night." she explained.

"That's no excuse and you know it..." Evie told her, "You're just lucky it's been slow so far." With a soft sigh, she looked around the almost empty room and frowned. It was always a little slow on weekend mornings, no one had to go to work so they drank coffee at home, maybe she should open later on those days. She shook her head slightly and looked back at Lily.

"You knew you had to work. Why did you stay up late?" She asked bluntly, no one could ever accuse her of being subtle. But it worked for her.

Sam raised an eyebrow, opening the door for the young woman who was supposed to be there twenty minutes ago. He had been about to call her too. "You're late, Sarah." He had been waiting for her. His initial intention was to have a long talk with her about being late, but he decided something else instead. "Look, if there's something keeping you up late, let me know. I can change your hours around if you need me to."

"I'm sorry Sam...I didn't mean to be late," Sarah said softly, "I just couldn't seem to keep from taking my time this morning. Can I have some coffee please?" She looked up at him with pleading eyes, she hadn't had time to make it herself. She was rarely late but she had woken up only twenty minutes ago but Sam didn't need to know that. She was usually so good at waking up in the morning. Today, she'd hit snooze again and again.

Sam sighed, and then rolled his eyes. Then he moved to the coffee maker, and started a pot for her. He looked over his shoulder, thinking about how cute she was, then remembering she was his employee. "You should consider yourself lucky I like you, kiddo. The cute routine doesn't work on me, remember?"

"Sure it does. I haven't met one person it doesn't work on," Sarah told him with a grin, "And if that really doesn't work; I promise I'll try not to be late again." She had always liked him but for some reason she never really thought about the chance of 'getting' with him. He had this unspoken rule about employees and she didn't think that was the real problem. But she made sure to keep her other idea to herself.

Sam shook his head, pouring her a cup of coffee. Then he sat down in his usual chair when he was out front. He sipped at his Irish tea, and watched the front door. "Slow day, fortunately. Any idea when the others are coming in?"

"I think Giselle is supposed to be coming in but I'm not sure what time," Sarah told him as she stirred some cream and sugar into her coffee. She smelled it delicately and smiled at the perfect scent. She took a small sip and sighed softly in delight. "She'll probably be in within the next couple of hours."

Sam nodded, and grabbed a chocolate chip muffin. Then he offered one to her. "You want one? Yeah, I heard she's been having problems dealing with her nighttime activities. Not sure exactly what."

Sarah shook her head at the offer for a muffin. "I wish I knew what to tell you. But there's no telling with that one," Sarah mused softly as she took another sip of her coffee. She could feel the caffeine start to kick in and she loved the way it sung its way through her blood.

Sam smiled, then quickly ate his muffin. In between bites, he sipped his tea, and made small talk. When he'd finished off both, he looked at her. "So, Sarah, how's everything non-job?"

"Boring...but good I guess," Sarah told him with a soft sigh, "I just can't seem to help hating the guys my friends set me up with. Everything they say and do seem wrong. Do you think something might be wrong with me?" She was already on her second cup of coffee and was getting no closer to feeling like her perky self.

Sam's eyes danced with amusement at that. "You mean aside from the fact that I should start charging you for the coffee?" He shook his head, laughing, then shrugged. "Honestly, I think that it's never a good idea to go out with someone your friends set you up with. People your family sets you up with is even worse." He stood up, and went over to man the register. "Well, the customers should start coming in soon. Feel up to being the barista for the day?"

"Nothing." Just fantasizing about your ex. She thought to herself, as she began to fix her daily frap. She added extra carmel and a bit of whip cream. "Want one?" She asked trying to change the subject quickly. She took a sip of her coffee.

gisselle the sassy cat

Gisselle pushed her blonde hair out of her eyes and she skipped into the Kat's Meow. She smiled brightly at her boss Sam and her co worker Sarah. "Good morning everyone!" She said, she had just finished her coffee before she arrived and was feeling somewhat hyper.

Sam looked up in time to see Gisselle push open the doors and make her way inside. As usual, she was hyper and bubbly, he noted. The customers didn't mind, so it worked out well. Then he nodded, and tapped the register's keys. "Morning. How's the front area look? Do we have cars backed up outside yet?"

"Should I count the garbage truck?" Gisselle said raising her eyebrow, knowing the answer to the question before he responded, "Because, if so..then sure I guess." She gave a little shrug, then sat down behind the counter.

Sam rolled his eyes at that, then turned for the office door. "I'll be in the office. Let me know if you girls need me for anything." He waved off the comment that inevitably followed, and closed the door behind him. He walked over to the desk, and sat down at it, closing his eyes and leaning back in his chair.

Sarah sighed softly and nodded her head to his question. She had moved behind the counter as Giselle came in, and pretty tuned out that whole conversation. Maybe Sam's right and I shouldn't accept these blind dates...she thought to herself as she looked blindly at the coffee makings.

Evie shook her head slightly, "Just try not to be late anymore." She could do much more than ask her for that. It's not like she was the girl's mother. She looked around the empty cafe and sighed, she only hoped that all the customers weren't over at the Katt's Meow. That would be the thing to top off her day, losing all her patrons to her ex-lover.

"You got it boss!" Lily said her perkiness chipping in. It seemed to be an incredibly slow morning and things didn't look like they were going to get faster. One think Lily hated was slow morning, mainly because she was such a perky person, she had to be around people. "Do you think anyone will be coming in soon?" Lily asked Evie

Gisselle sighed, it didn't seem like things were looking up, and as she looked out the window, Java tail didn't seem to be going to well either. I got up for this? Gisselle thought to herself bitterly, she could've been sleeping in or something.

"I'm not sure Lily," Evie told the other girl as she glanced out the large windows of her cafe, "But look at it this way. We're not the only ones with no costumer." She gestured to the window, a slight smile curving her lips.

Sarah sighed softly and stretched her hands up above her head. She felt each muslce pull and when she put her arms back down she felt better. "Morning Gisselle," she said softly.

Theodore Mann walked into the Kat's Meow half an hour before his shift started. He walked up to the counter and smiled at the girls. "Hey ladies, how are you doing this morning?" Ted pulled up a chair at the closest table to the counter. He had been up for a couple hours already and was wide awake. He could tell that the girls were still waking up though. He wondered why they did not do what he did. His morning routine was to wake up early, eat breakfast, work out, and then shower. It always had him wide awake and ready for another day working at the cafe.

"Morning Ted. How's my favorite tomcat?" Sarah asked with a bright smile as she looked over at him. How he was so up in the morning she would never know. She needed at least 3 cups of coffee to be anywhere near him this early. Which reminded her...She made herself her third and final cup of coffee and took a quick sip.
