If you decide how to vote by "looking over" candidates and propositions at "the last moment" you are a disengaged voter...It would be better for all for you to not vote.

Nearly all judges around here are retained because most voters have no idea who the various judges are, vote "yes" to retain each one individually.

The voters motivation is immaterial. And if you feel that way you should consider third party candidates or getting invloved much earlier in the primary process.

As far as voting "against" someone...that isn't a box. The candidate that gets your vote assumes your full support.

Voting for a third party is often mis-characterized as "throwing away your vote." Not so. It tells both major candidates that x% of the electorate cannot stomach either of them.
