Can you libel a celeb in a fan fiction story?

Non-Con in the Celebrities category has been an automatic rejection for a couple of years now, at least.

Something I was not aware of until just now when I found my fan-fiction story (fictional characters from a well-known property) involving non-con (though the "victims" do like it by the end, per the normal rule) was rejected by Laurel.

I guess I could do one of those hokey change-everybody's-name-but-you-still-can-tell-who-they-are deals like porn movie parodies used to do. Or just not have it on Literotica at all.

It's somewhat difficult when these rules aren't definitively posted in one place. The Submission Guidelines page in the main site FAQ area mentions no bestiality or underage, and a sticky thread in the "Story Ideas" forum mentions the no snuff and no unenjoyed non-con. Frankly I seldom visit the Story Ideas forum as I already have plenty of ideas, so it was a while before I knew that thread was there. Folks who have been around the forum seem to know these things since they come up rather often, but there's no good way for newer folks to know what they shouldn't bother submitting as a story. I wonder if there are any other rejection triggers that I don't know about.

Another thing that's forbidden in fan fiction on Lit is to write about characters who never reached the age of 18 in the original source material.

You can't write a sexual fanfic about an 18 yr. old Dora the Explorer or Penny from Inspector Gadget, for example.

But does that ban include such characters much older, decades later, looking back on their over-18 escapades?

Not that I would WANT to write this, but I could imagine The Powerpuff Matrons now as GILFs detailing what they did after growing up. No underage references, none, only their adult sex lives.

I hate to sound like an old-timer, but yes it's difficult and no it's not going to change. It's best just to ask here, which is what most people end up doing after that first rejection.

The simplest way to view it is to ignore the various stickies - they are incomplete and vague - and simply say there is one rejection trigger - Laurel - and you don't know about it because it isn't fully knowable. I'm willing to bet there are stories that got through on Wednesday that would have been rejected on Thursday. We aren't dealing in algorithms here, just rules of thumb.

Doesn't matter if you age them to 18 or 70. If the characters in the original source material were under 18, it's a no-go.
